Fairly Fantasy - Quest for Felifae! - - Part 01: Introducti
And we're up!
Yes, you have seen it right; I have started on yet another story series! It may seem a bit much, since I already have the series with Mara and Celeste, and have not too long ago started a story series with Minty Mouse, but I wanted to do something entirely different for a change!
Now I have to admit; I have never been very good at pure fantasy. So I thought; what better way to get better in that than by just doing it? Hence this new story series; it will be as fantasy as fantasy can get; weird lead characters, magic, strange creatures, the works!
So, meet yet another two new characters; the gerbil taur Fitowar Rana and her winged green bunny lover Autumn Pippinstein! Students of a school for magics, going out on a quest to find those adorable little magickal creatures called the Felifae! And; I do realize, students of a school for magics, that seems mighty Harry Potter-ish. Therefore, I will try as much as I can not to focus on the school, but on the times in between.
This here is the first story to introduce these characters to you, and to outline the quest they will be undertaking in their summer vacation. It will be lots of fun!
Ah, and what exactly are Felifae, I hear you ask? Well, they are adorable tiny little fairy kittens, females only, with an amazingly colorful fur; a species that I created myself. I can describe them here, but that would be superfluous because Fitowar has already been reading most of their description out loud from her book! So, I will simply suffice with showing you the picture that Fitowar showed to Autumn, as that picture is available! It has been drawn by the amazingly talented
luthiennightwolf - go check her out and give her lots of love!
This is the picture: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/4012180
So here we go! The start of yet another new story series! I hope you will enjoy reading these stories, and I also hope that writing these stories will help me getting more familiar in the area of pure fantasy!
Now then, finally...

Very cute, sounds like you've got a good start on this one so far. I have to admit, you kinda lost me with all the biology talk lol but I'm looking forward to seeing what happens when these two find one of the Felifae.
Also, thanks a bunch for tossing my pic into your description!...every little bit of exposure helps for me, I'll go on over to my pic and edit the description to point people towards this story as well. ^_^

Thank you! This series is hopefully a way for me to go completely crazy with the wildest things, without me needing to worry about keeping things accurate to the real world like in my other stories Admittedly; I did a bunch of research on parthenogenesis to still keep that accurate... but that was only to explain why the Felifae are only females. I sure don't plan on throwing that much difficult science into these stories anymore!
And you're so very welcome too! I hope that my description will lead a few of my watchers to head on over to your gallery and watch your lovely artwork! And thanks so much for returning the favor as well, too!

Yes, I had created a first visual help for these little Felifae myself, from a drawn picture of a very realistic winged kitty, in which I replaced the feathered wings with a pair of butterfly wings, but unfortunately that was about all I could do, as I can't draw to save my life. Luckily a good friend helped me to get a commission from Luthien to have these adorable little creatures drawn!
*smiles*
And yes, there will be more! I have a few stories in planning to show the 'adventures' of Fitowar and Autumn as they go out to that lodge and into the forest to search for Felifae. Not quite sure what to do once they've actually found any,t hough... but that's still a bit in the future, so I'm sure that by that time I'll have more new ideas!

OH, I'm posting a response BEFORE I actually read it (Oh, no!!), but hey, I'll say what I need to say, first, if I may.... :)
Forst off, I think I've seen fairy kitties in furry before, but I'm not sure-- Certainly fairy foxes (fellow author Paul
patpahootie Kidd has done a novel with something like them- Foxes with butterfly wings, called "A Whisper of Wings"), and I've seen several instances of fairy mice, both in furry art and in folklore (I've studied enough about fae to know there's enough circumstantial evidence for their existence), but this shouldn't spoil or detract from your own creativity-- More power to you! :) Now, my other point: In Amy's world, furfae not only exist, but unlike our world, despite their rarity, they're accepted as real-- And Amy is a fan of one of them, one that happens to be the mouse equivalent to Tinkerbell (there's actually about 20 known furfae species in Amy's world, most of which number in the low hundreds), but the Tinkerbell-mouse of her world isn't fictional, and is in fact, an escapee from the clutches of the furry equivalent to Walt Disney, literally a mouse, and a very two-faced one at that-- Amy very strongly is in favour of Tink's continued freedom, and her everyday nightshirt is a "Tinkermouse" tee.... Just another of the differences between her world from ours... How would that fit in yours?
Now, to prepare this puppy for the iPod and read it tonight.... :)
...Oh, and I think your perfectly capable of something like fantasy- You seem to have a solid imagination, from my reading of previous stories. :)
Now to get to other replies, too...

Eeek! A comment before the story has been read! Oh noes!
*giggles and winks*
As a matter of fact, fairy cats have been shown before, indeed; I myself have an older picture by
xianjaguar which shows a lovely warrioress kind of lady, and in the lower corner of that picture is a fairy/butterfly cat, a very cute silver tabby with blue wings! And then of course there is this adorable little fellow by
ebonyfeline as well! So I certainly don't claim the idea of fairy cats to be an original concept by me
You know, and another very good friend has been highly recommending "A Whisper of Wings" to me and will send me a copy of that book to read, so soon enough, I will know what that awesome story is about!
Ooo, and now I certainly want to have a good look around on Amy's world, too! Those mousies sound totally adorable! And if there's a chance of spotting any of the other kinds of furfae, that would be really lovely too! I actually considered making my fairies mice at first, but I decided to go with kittens because, well, I'm biased, meow!
*smiles and hugs*
In any way, I hope you will enjoy reading this story lateron, dear! And thank you so much for your vote of confidence as well!

I'm working on putting it in ePub format for my iPod right now, while at the same time, downloading a DVD of a Star Trek fan production, so I could watch it later. (Yes, the DVD-RW drive arrived, and have been downloading known Star Trek fan episodes-- Yay for DSL! :) )
As for Amy's world, like I said, not too many differences between it and RL, but what differences there are, keeps things interesting... :) Like much wider use of skyways and that fairies are real, plus the history of Disney is quite different... :)
As far as I can tell, there's some degree of compatibility between the world of most of your stories and Amy's world, perhaps enough that they may even be considered the same world, and might have similar explanations for Amy's odd condition (which I described before) and the odd colouration of some of your furs (which Amy has never seen in her part of the world, except for the occasional intentionally-dyed fur, much like what was initially assumed for Minty, although her colouration is much more intrinsic and "natural" for her).... So.... We need to talk. :) 'Cause I could really see a crossover potential here for us. :)
I haven't read "A Whisper of Wings" yet, myself, but I've read a couple others of Mr. Kidd's books- The two "Fangs of K'aath" books, which are sort-of a furry "Arabian Nights"-type world, which I can only say are EXCELLENT books. :)
Now, to go read.... ;)

Hee hee! Oh yes, DSL is great! I'm so happy to have it myself (through wireless) as well, because I hear so many horror stories about dial-up...
*tilts her head a bit and runs a paw over her whiskers*
Mmm, and now that certainly sounds very interesting, alright! For as far as my thought process went, the world in which I put my characters, such as Mara, Celeste, Minty, Dusty and Fifi, as well as my own fursona and all the characters surrounding me, is exactly the same as the real human world, save for the fact it's inhabited by anthropomorphic animals instead of humans... but perhaps there is more to it after all! Or in any way it should not be that very much of a problem to make it that way
And like I said, I definitely would love to have a look around in Amy's part of the world! Mmm, I do believe that a certain green mousie would most likely become very good friends with a certain grey mousie should she travel down to California

For the most part, Amy's world isn't all that different from the RL world, as I said- Some minor differences here and there, but the cities are the same, the roads, most businesses, etc... Like around here, Humboldt County isn't really different in any way except for having the skyway cable cars that link most of the key towns in the county, as well as links up to Klamath and Crescent City to the north, and Whiskeytown (and beautiful Whiskey Lake), Weaverville and Redding to the east-- Something that actually benefits from the fact this is a very mountainous region, with plans to expand down to Ukiah, and eventually down to San Rafael in the SF Bay Area, but that may be years down the road. :) Other differences do involve some certain people, but not whole groups or countries, and the fact furfae are accepted as real, whereas IRL, they're still considered for the most part myth and legend- Too unbelievable to be accepted by most as "real". But as I said, since some of your characters have odd colourations, as well as being winged, in some cases, how close to "real" is that? Probably the same as that of a mouse with a permanently-attatched indestructable velour bow and marble-like yellow-green eyes... ;)
And Amy does have a guest house-- A one-bedroom, though, which sometimes, when she needs to be out of her own home (which is only a little bigger- 3-bedroom, one-storey), she'll just "retreat" there and sleep there for a night or morning... ;) Amy isn't used to having too many guests, although a friend comes by every so often-- A certain lepti girl who is more handy at handiwork than Amy is... Rest of the time, Amy's just alone, only occasionally stepping out to go to the local diner or to the grocery store, or maybe catch the skyway to Eureka for stuff there, or maybe head east-- She loves the Sundial Bridge in Redding. :)

Ah, yes... it definitely seems as if there is a very high possibility that 'my' world and Amy's world are indeed the same. After all, Zinzoline has some magical powers, which kind of tie in with the existence of faries, and after all; Zinzoline and the whole cast live in Georgia. Mara and Celeste and their friends live in Colorado. Minty and Dusty and Fifi live in Oregon. None of them have ever been to California (or at least not for as far as I know), so they have no idea of what kind of things in the forms of transport and so such are all available there! Mmm, I think a little travel might be in order sometime soon...
Good intro, BTW. ;) See, you have the same knack for science fiction in how you described the felifae as you do for fantasy, in the overall tone of the story. It'll be worth reading just to see what you come up with. ;)
As for our two worlds, there doesn't seem to be too much difference, at least none that can't be rectified with minimal effort. Transportation-wise, the California of Amy's world isn't that mucxh different from the RL california, except for the skyway cable cars as mentioned, primarily in Humboldt County. Humboldt County, and much of that part of the state, is rural, mostly hilly to mountainous (local peaks like Kneeland and Ruth Mountains regularly get snow every year), where mountainous coastlines span from Mendocino County easily on past the central Oregon coast, much of it heavily forested. (Mostly firs & pines, with some redwoods.) The nearest city equal or bigger than Eureka is Redding. Land access used to be difficult to near impossible until the 1930s, and didn't become what anyone could call "easy" until the 1960s, when Highway 101 opened. Flattest places are the Eel/Elk/Bear River valleys and the delta, as well as the low plateau Eureka rests on. Much of life here centers on the greater Humboldt Bay area, and the history is largely defined by logging and fishing, and certain rather unpleasant events concerning indians and Chinese. Several major authors spent time here as correspondants- Jack London, Mark Twain- in the 19th Century, as well as a future president who became an alcoholic living here (Ulysses S. Grant), prior to becoming a Civil War hero and president. OK, is that enough background for you? :) (My family was once one of the major logging families here, and the first to implement conservation as well as technology in lumbering.)

Eeek! Also sorry it took me even longer to respond to this, but I totally missed this comment because it looks like you replied to your own comment instead of mine.
Anyways, thank you very much! I'm really glad you enjoyed this introduction story that will lead to an exploration in more than one sense! You're right; in this one I just needed to introduce the characters, but from here on out it can go every which way! I already have a little plan or two...
*giggles*
Aren't those Felifae just absolutely adorable? I want one for Christmas too! No wait, I want two! They are indeed very, very colorful; in fact, they have the coloration of a Lorikeet; very tropical! Hee hee, as for that biologically scientific intro on the Felifae themselves... save for the one or two sentences that directly referred to Felifae, I more or less copied that all from the Wiki page about parthenogenesis But it did seem like the very best and most plausible explanation of why Felifae are only females.
*chuckles*
Like I said, I have a little plan or two for things to happen in the near future of this specific time line, although I'm not quite sure of when exactly I might be getting all that, what with all the things I have to work on. So just hold off the tickling for a bit more! Or rather completely, even; I'm ticklish!

*gioggles and leans over a bit, lowering her voice*
Actually, I have two Autumns... "Fitowar rana" means "Autumn snset" in Hausa. but shhhhh, it's a secret!
*giggles again*
And yes, who knows what they all might find on their way to South Serenity Forest? Or what they might find inside South Serenity Forest when going through it to get to the valley side? Or what might be in that valley? Heck, I don't even know yet! So it'll be a surprise to all of you as much as it will be to me!

You know... would you believe I even have no clue what "intrepid" means? That is just one of those words I often came across in my original American Calvin & Hobbes comics when Calvin was pretending to be "the intrepid Spaceman Spiff"... but I never really thought to look it up in my English dictionary
But thank you, dear, I'm glad you liked this story! I really should get to writing more installments for it; I have a few ideas in mind. But there's some priorities first, like Mara & Celeste stories and Minty Mouse stories... this fantasy stories is more kind of an in-between thingie for when I want to take a break from all my writing on realism and go nuts with weird magic stuff!

Hee hee, that is indeed very true! And there is after all still plenty for you to read in my gallery!
*giggles and hugs*
Hee, and thanks! That is a lot quicker than me trying to find my... 2005 edition of my Penguin English Dictionary, of which, despite it being as thick as a darn phone book, I have no idea where the heck I left it...

Hee hee! True! I actually have the Translator pae from Dictionary.com in my IE Favorites bar
*giggles*
I actually have no idea what "rice" means in slang... for as far as I know, that word denotes those little white or brown pellet thingies that taste really yummy! But I will certainly go and have a look at Urbandictionary.com sometime! I love using slang in my stories, after all!

Okay, now I'm curious! I'm definitely gonna have to have a good look soon!
Hee, and well, even if certain slang words might not be that widely used, they might still be very useful in my stories. After all, I could just say it's a specific way of speaking of one of my characters, making it a special personality quirk or something
