My kitchen is now also my garden. v1.5 table and v2.5 table
Last night, I decided to upgrade the two prototype hydro tables I've been tinkering, finally finding a happy medium between water flow, lighting, and plant management. This is what they looked like before.
v1.5 - original "dumb" frame (middle), where the individual boxes just sit in the frame, with a pair of shop lights using Sylvania Design 50 ECO bulbs. Timer is for 14hrs/day, with a static water delivery system (nitrated water solution is kept at about an inch deep in the bottom of the 6qt buckets). Currently housing Roma Italia tomatoes, beans and squash, about 30 various hot pepper species, and some strawberries.
v2.5 - reworked dumb frame (back), with timed deluge watering system. Water is run into a bed, with no buckets for 30 minutes ever hour and a half. The bed is slightly tilted, to allows drainage to occur. An 160gph fish pump runs the show from a reservoir located under the unit. Again, two shop lights using Sylvania Design 50 ECO bulbs. Currently housing another 30 various flavor of hot pepper species, lettuce, broccoli, three species of onion, and more strawberries.
The Aerogrow (front, on the left) was a Christmas present and I use it to start seeds for my outdoor garden. Also for an herb garden in the off season.
The pod (front, left side) contains 27 peat pods (9 herbs, 3 pods each) for a vertical herb garden I'm assembling later.
