It doesn't matter anymore.
2020 is over. It's done with.
The transition period to something better is now.
As the wind blows around my horns, I shall fight on.
The air is fresh, the sky is clear. The wind bears my wings.
I am alive.I've said it several times. 2020 was fucking horrible. From the general inconvenience of Covid-19 to losing my job. Watch as Covid destroys all 3 of my backup plans that took 5 years to build up in less than 2 months time. Global economic crisis and recession, impossible to find a job, savings run out. And all of that happening while friends and family get sick, some die and I myself dodged a cancer death thanks to swift action from my doctor, but nearly passed on anyway thanks to an anaphylactic shock. Car breaks down, family members lose jobs and businesses... it's been tough to see such misery.
But something very good did come out of 2020: Mountain Call by Thomas Bergersen. This is seriously one of the most amazing epic songs I've ever heard and must be one of the top ones ever created by Two Steps from Hell. Give it a listen while you read on.
But just because the year changes, doesn't mean that everything bad instantly stops day 1. We have a lot of work to do to make things better again. Freedom and rights doesn't come for free, they have always been a long sought goal needed to be fought hard for. But what this year represents is a new start, a new wave, a new energy. A kick to get our shit together and keep fighting for what we need to fight for. If some shitheads try to take over the Capitolium, fucking don't let them. I've fought for human rights and freedom for 4 years as enlisted, now I'm in the reserves. Wear a mask and maintain social distance. Support your local businesses if you can afford. Tell your friends and family that you love them. If you see someone struggling, a friend falling silent on Discord... hit them up, ask them how they are doing. Get vaccinated. Give a coin to someone who needs it. Give your veterans a job. Help fund research. But more than anything, allow yourself some time to breath, find some peace for yourself and spend an evening or two with people you love. Right now, unity is more important than ever.
"The sun glittered in the waves, turning them into white gold. The air was warm with a spring breeze from the west, the currents strong. A giant shadow spread over the Atlantic as the dragoness Valcyrie spread her wings and flew out. Once greatly wounded, she had recovered and was now full of life again. The fighting spirit roared in her chest as the sun warmed her scales and the winds carried her upwards. The fresh clear air filled her nostrils and made her purr. Her wings quivered with the force of the air pressure as she steered low, letting the foaming brim of the waves lick her chest and belly before slowly rising again. This was her domain. Her Atlantic. This is where she belong, her home. And nothing and no one would take it from her."
This astonashingly beautiful piece was done for me by no one other than the amazing
FellFallow as a Christmas gift from my good friend
JarrenI love this one so much. The prompts given for expression was "Hmmh, something with like a new spirit for 2021..? Perhaps something slightly happy, hopeful but more than anything motivated and determined?" and I think she nailed it. You can see the pride and the determination in my eyes there...~
