It's been rainy and gray for the past several days here in eastern Wisconsin.. All manner of strange flora and fauna have sprung from seemingly nowhere.
Here, a strange and reclusive beast flees (slowly) from my presence. After a long 5 meter chase from the backyard garden, it has finally been cornered against my garage door. With nowhere left to run, what will the creature do now?
(I didn't hurt it. :p Actually, I was scared of what defensive countermeasures it may have.. :< Looking at it, it probably spits acid when cornered.. Or maybe it explodes when scared, dealing AoE damage to everything around it.. Or.. Maybe it deploys drill weapons from its arms and attacks relentlessly until its aggressor lies defeated and shamed!!! :< I was too much of a coward to find out.)

Looks similar to the American Toads I'm keeping in an aquarium. Although there are several toads that look similar and I'm no pro at telling them apart. Defense mechanism is they pee all over you when you pick them up (mostly water they store in a special pouch). Not good for housepets to mess with as the glands on the sides of their heads excrete a toxin. As long as you aren't eating them, a human is basically safe. Pick it up by gently holding it on the sides and it will likely chirp (release call) if it is a male. The males do this to tell other males their gender and that they would rather not be mounted. The females don't make a sound. They are more intelligent animals than I originally gave them credit for and tame down nicely as pets.
Huh o.o All the years and hundreds of toads I've seen, and I never knew that. Well, the toxin thing I knew about :p Given how slow and cumbersome they are, it's the only thing that makes sense as to why they aren't food for every predator that moves more than two miles per hour.
I've never heard one chirp, though! I generally just leave them to their business and don't bother them too much :p I figure it's enough torment for them when I chase them around >:3

You're probably not looking in the right places, cos I've seen plenty of toads in Florida.
But you know what we got too many of here? Roaches. The palmetto bug kind. When I went back to Miami I had a heartattack--roaches everywhere. I can't even sleep well at night. I saw one in my room a couple of days ago. Existing.
Toads are no fun to catch though. Too easy.

There are roaches in Wisconsin too, just not as many :p You'll find em in the cities, though..
I've still never seen you catch an anole! You only brought them in, someone else could've been catching them for you! ..I bet you paid someone to do exactly that. Just so you could wave it in my face.. You are the type!

I didn't tell you about my anole-catching guy? He's this little gnomish fellow I keep in my pocket. You've never seen him because he only appears to the mildly Jewish.
I can be on at night, but I'm not reliable enough to play WoW for dungeons. I can get pulled off any second. I'll try to be on more often though...my siblings are starting to sleep sooner.

xD I was thinking Tylenol would do the trick well enough, but my stepmom is into all that natural stuff and she doesn't believe in sleep aids.
After 8 I reserve the right to ignore the both of them, but my brother usually asks for a story. Then while I'm out of my room I get called for this or that favor. The real trick is to stay locked up in my room and only come out for water.
