Maneframe drew this beautiful portrait of Aglaé for me.

Soo... i did a TED talk about kaimana in the upload right before this one. You might expect a similar story about Aglaé, right?

Eeeeh... not really. Aglaé is a completely made up character that has ties with the russian folk lore.

Origianlly she was supposed to be made of gemstones and all sparkly, over time i refined that concept until what it is today, and i "pray i do not change it further" because i hate my future self already. 😜

Essentially i started with her character design.

Her colors reminded me of malachite azurite, an highly toxic and basic (which, to dumb it down: is kinda like acid, except the opposite but with the same effects) copper-based mineral, very soft until it stabilizes.

And also she had a door-like opening on her back and was made of "floating rocks connected by magic" and all sparkly with magic.

This, coupled with the "gothic-inspired" design made me think she is a "magic castle" that shrinks people inside her. And would you not know, there is the lady of the copper mountain that is all about being a terrifying nice lady with immense powers. So, why hijack the russian myth when i can just say Aglaé is one of her homes?

I mean russian dragons always looked like snakes anyways and were a personification of mountains, made of rocks and stuff... And we have this snake made of "rocks and stuff" who is also made of malachite... aaand yep.

Jumbled it all together and spun it around.

I originally went for gothic due to the inspiration board of the adoption being all about emo/gothic stuff, except i originally wanted her to be about "liking the gothic emo clothes" but without ever being able to wear them for she would destroy them.

That got... destroyed quite immediately because people keep putting clothing on her, not understanding that she is supposed to admire them and want to hug them.

Somehow the concept of "naked snake hugging clothing" seems kind of hard to understand, so even if i asked several times that she be hugging them clothes... i have had artists present me with a nearly complete picture of her wearing said clothing.

Like... artists would start off with her naked... and between one WIP and the next she was completely dressed and also fully rendered or something. How can i tell artists nearing completion that ... nope... they got it wrong and should scrap that and restart?

Also i got gifted art of Aglaé wearing clothing. Because people liked it.

So... uhm... if you see art of Aglaé wearing clothing... that's just... yeah. I never asked for that. It was supposed to be her admiring clothing. Or hugging them or hoarding them like a treasure.

Then all of a sudden she's wearing those clothes.

🤦‍♂️

But apparently i'm "just" really bad at explaining myself.

Given how many times this happens... yeah. I just suck. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But i swear one day i will get her to hug clothing. Except ... by that point ... it will be the one image with a f-ton of images of her totally wearing clothing. Sooo yeah. 😭
