Oh yes, many people have a tendency to overuse colors. I like this design though, it's not too over the top.

By the way, your icon is adorable! Wherever did you obtain it from?

Even REALLY overboard colors can look nice, if done properly, but it's rare. Shadow's character is rainbow, but not made too be way too bright, it's a more dull color pretty much.
