This is a bit of a blast to the past for me. The character, Dinah, was created on my second run of second grade in the very first short story I ever wrote, "Dinah was a Dog With Wings".

The story, if I remember correctly, was about a floppy-eared yellow dog who lived in the streets. She was desperate for an owner, and her hope for a better life manifested as a pair of white wings. She flew into someone's chimney and they immediately adopted her.

Because, y'know, life works like that.

Nine years later I would read the Catwings series and feel like a jerk.
