Whoa, it's been forever since I posted new art here! Meet my new character, Rebecca "Rebel" Raine!
Rebel, a Great Grey Shrike, is a mean colleen from Ireland living in the slums of a cyberpunk city, where the poor have been cordoned off, denied basic necessities, and forbidden to enter the wealthier areas of the city without an escort - a law enforced by police patrollers along the borders of the slums who will shoot first and ask questions later. The police don't enter the slums for any reason, so the whole area has descended into anarchy and turned into a post-apocalyptic Mad Max-style wasteland.
Rebel is one of the few who has the skills to be hired by city-dwellers who come into the slums looking for cheap bodyguards, enforcers, soldiers, hitmen... or any other under-the-table work they need kept clear of law enforcement and off the books using people who won't be missed if they die. Rebel is a gun (and spikey axe bat) for hire, and while the pay for slummers isn't good, it's enough to keep her ammo stocked and her home well-defended. Keeping her cybernetics in good repair, on the other hand... well, that usually requires leaving the slums, and even Rebel can't do that without an escort. So between jobs, her cybernetics can get a little... uncomfortable. And an all-expenses-paid trip to a cybernetic surgeon for maintenance and upkeep, as well as replacement energy cells, are usually the first up-front fee she charges for any job.
Rebel lives in an old video rental store. In true Shrike fashion, the entrance to the store is marked by impaled bodies of people who tried to rob or con her as a warning to anyone else who might try to do the same. She sleeps in a roost she built just above and to the left of the door, where anyone who walks in will find themselves immediately in the sights of her shotpistols. Or grenade launcher... depending on how heavily armed they are.
