Saved yourself some money there. Art school assignments are political. Especially when you're graded by your classmates and you have to draw figures from history or pop culture. A litmus test more than an education.

Instead of getting paid to draw, you pay to have someone tell you what to draw, and give up your soul and mind in the process.

The only benefit of art school is the nepotic relationship between certain schools (CalArts) and the mainstream media industry. You still have to sacrifice your soul to conform to the group-think hive mind, and it still takes years to pay the loans.

With that said, drawing art porn for money is similarly soul crushing. At the highest tier, it's basically a club of a few patrons telling you what to do. They're not vetted by taste or quality of idea, just on the profitability of their patronage.

My goal is to do art for free while maintaining financial stability elsewhere. I would rather keep my art separated from my needs, so that I am allowed the freedom to create whatever I feel compelled to create. Also, the lack of financial incentive allows more honest feedback from the consumer.

Art school helps you to hone your skill. To be honest you seemed hon(y) enough 🤣

You can learn almost everything you need from the internet now. Aside from certain professions like medical field, degrees are meaningless nowdays and personal experience is everything.

This. Internet, youtube, books are the beste teachers

Not to mention learn at your pace on your own time when your concentration is highest, and no stressing over having to cram memorize for 100 question tests.

I feel like art school is one of those places where the portfolio they care more about is your financial one...
