A quick update, due to this episode having been written before the ninth, where Arqeez has a slight overreaction to someone's air freshener and Zekra shares an idea on ship decoration. Also, a bit of other, insignificant stuff happening here.

First things first, I've no idea about ratings, but on one hand, there are open mentions of genitalia, which is quite adult, but on the other hand, those are alien, which, as far as I understand, not as bad as the monkey ones. Concerning violence, I double have no idea, since it's so widespread in the media and in life. I think the best idea would be reading the proper descriptions of the ratings and comparing them against the story content.
Speaking of genitalia, the episode begins with a hilarious dick joke with a surprisingly long set-up. Who would have known that a simple air freshener could be such a potent aphrodisiac for the poor Idrath. And while I don't approve of threats and intimidation as the means of making someone rethink their life (and stop selling the death sticks), the character of Kelgie, the space hikikomori, made me chuckle too.
That scene has a nice follow-up in the form of another dick joke, namely it being confused with some weapon, only reinforces the idea of Arq's horniness (which became sort of a tradition for every episode - I can't remember one without the bug guy hitting on the grouchy slugrat, not counting the initial meeting one).
The Viessian repair specialist was, to some degree of surprise, a false lead, only used to bring Zekra to the location of the next act. It is nice to see that the tech people can eat in the fancy restaurants at least on some planets. They might have been a business owner, though, preferring to deal with the clients themselves. The plasma exhausts were a lovely mention, too, as well as fancy gastroliths (an indispensable thing for those who would like to stay with the latest health trends! wonder if they were touted as promoting weight loss (or gain, depends on that particular species' standards).
And then the droppings come into contact with an air agitation device for real. What came into my mind first (even before that, in the scene where the modified Kineian was introduced) is - is there any link between it and the thief Serkanian from the ep. 8? Was that the same military faction that did its experiments on ger which also upgraded Selom? Will it come up as the major antagonist in the later episodes? The truth is out there...
As for the monster design, I've got not much to say other than praise the laser weapons. No fancy pew-pew, just heat the fuck out of your target until it melts or evaporates. No visible ray on the illustration too, which is another addition to your collection of technical things done right.
Now, to the insignificant part. Interestingly, Zekra made the "morally good" choice, albeit somewhat involuntarily, which got ger in the fight in the first place. Where ge shows as a very tough fighter already, still going while sustaining some serious damage. But then, we get to see ger Boss Form. Frankly, this was really surprising. I did not expect Zekra to have any more superpowers that ge already had, and thought that Arqeez is going to play a major role to save his friend. On one hand, that display of Jedi Master powers is by all means awesome and adds a whole new dimension to the character. On the other hand, it seems kind of out of nowhere and feels unearned, because of no prior training or research. The matter of fact explanation Zekra gives afterwards mitigates the negative moments somewhat, though. It will be interesting to see how would Zekra go about ger newfound ability, whether conducting some research or meeting others who have experienced this state, as it is not limited to Serkanians only. And surely, this superpower cannot be a throwaway one-time episode, right?
The scenes of Arq taking care of Zekra are wholesome and heartwarming. Again, he uses his best wits when it matters and his logic is purely sound where it has to be. Him holding Zekra on his lap is a really decent ending for this whole ordeal.
Notable mentions also include: cute rounded cars, which despite their simplicity look pretty logical (reminding me of the Venus project), the moster holding Zekra upside down (I really liked the overall feel of weight and plasticity), and frankly, all other illustrations, they don't cease to impress me with the sceneries and the variety of the species.
As always, looking forward to further development of the world and characters.

Well, mentions of dicks and copulation happened plenty of times before, and in this case, it was talking about them, rather the actual incident being shown.
The setup also involved the repair of the water filter and some worldbuilding in regards to social species living apart from conspecifics. But my thought about the air freshener is that a component of it has either the same or a very similar form as Idrath pheromones, hence the overreaction.
It is indeed a tradition and I will try to get in at least one per episode. The only exceptions were ep. 3 and ep. 5.
Yep, you have remarked a few times that the story takes unexpected directions. The Viessian is supposed to be both the top mechanic and business owner. And the gastrolith part was more meant as being some really decadent thing, like putting gold dust into food. I mean, why using some regular, non-poisonous rock when you can have rubies or some fancy artificial gems with three-dimensional models of local flora instead?
The only current link between the two is that military organisations do engage in secret, highly-unethical things on occasion. Everything else is open to interpretation or might be elaborated on, should I have any suitable plot ideas.
Well, I happen to know how lasers look like and found it an interesting element to depict the rays as invisible, considering I haven't seen it done that way that often.
PFF, I just didn't want to spoil the weirdest parts.
Well, the morally good choice was more a result of vastly underestimating the enemy. Ge didn't know that the crashes heard before were the drones being destroyed.
Well yeah, it was sort of an arse-pull. Then again, it is a thing assumed by ger to be some weird folktale, but now knowing not only it being real, but also being able to achieve it, there certainly will be much more about it. Considering it was the start of the overarching subplot mentioned earlier.
Also, Arq did play a major role in the saving - snapping ger out of the trance and getting ger to the nearest hospital as soon as possible.
Interesting you like the cars - they were just a peak laziness design from me, somewhat of a combination of an actual car and a miner helmet.
And as usual, thanks for providing those long, in-depth reviews. This one resulted in one or another idea note for future episodes.
