This shot was taken on a whim in my front yard. Fresh snow from the night before, no tracks, and a nice glow form the sun. I wanted a similar shot from up in the mountains, but all those roads were locked tight by the forest service. So, after the shot with the elk, this is the last shot of my day. I'm not disappointed in it, I just wished that there had been a more grandiose scene. The fallen tree has been down for years, but I have always liked the way it leans in, creating a simple subject.
