Hello everyone, it is good to be back. 2020 has been a straight kick in the balls and a shank in the sides for everyone. With all the bullshit, I decided to take a good break on reviews, but eventually once some sort of normalcy came back. I decided to get back into the game. Fortunately I had a good cigar brand to kick off the year. Room 101 has been dishing out knock out after knockout of great blends, and it was about time I got my paws on them. So I'm making this Part 1 of Room 101 month starting out with the Farce Series. Let's get to it, like old times.
FARCE Connecticut Toro:
Wrapper: Ecuador (Connecticut)
Binder: n/a
Filler: Dominican Republic & Nicaragua
Pre-Light/Construction:
The look of this stick itself was enticing enough, but the aroma and feel were more a draw in. Earth and Pepper scent with a slight hint of oak. Something for a nice morning cigar. So I decided to have it with a cup of coffee one morning while watching the news and then The Boys later. The wrapper itself was a bit soft with a tiny bit of tooth. The rest along the feel was like silk. The band was the revitalized version of the Sakura Flower. Gold and Red in all it's glory. Veins and seems were blended in real well, almost like a solid stick, straight forward. The slice pre-draw was mid snug but loose for a good draw.
The Burn Part 1:
The first few puffs were filled with a light black pepper, but warm with a outflow of nice oak and cedar wood note. Blend that with my morning coffee, and it was a match made in heaven. The draw loosened up a bit from the first few. It was at this point where I knew that this was a way to begin the new year with reviews. As the stick went down, it mainly in a medium stage in body. Soon some light cream notes came into play, blending in well with my coffee. So far, relaxing.
The Burn Part 2:
The pepper notes at this point were a little more sharper while the oak became a little more roasted. It was like giving off some smokey notes to some roasted trail mix. Something definitely a plus. So far nothing else to come to change. Medium body still strong.
The Burn Final:
The cream notes became a little more thicker and darker, almost like a lighter version of Bailey's creamer. Soon the cedar notes were pretty much out at this point. I soon gave it a little purge to draw out a fresher taste near the end. Soon with the last few puffs coming to an end the pepper and oak notes were neck and neck in strength. Soon it was pretty much a tie with the cream and the roasted nuts notes behind.
Verdict: So far what I can say, it's great to get back into the swing of things for cigar reviews. Room 101 has always been one of my go tos and inspiration in the industry. This stick itself was a great way to start it back up again. TY Matt Booth.
