I have been super busy recently and then suddenly, out pops all these babies! At least I have some pretty ones in there! Nothing like feeling your water break and 18 squirming little ones go spilling down your legs! What a mess!
Seriously tho, been awaiting these guys for a while! Boa babies! <3 Yes they give live birth, this is a couple days after.

Ahh yes, these boas should max out at 6 feet. We are trying to get into dwarf boas since I know a LOT of people might be interested if you could guarantee they'd never get about 3-4 feet. A different locale should help with that.
Very sorry to hear you lost your last python. I hope you can get just the snake you're looking for sometime soon! Apologies if you already know but going to big shows like NARBC and having cash you can really get the prices down. That's how we got these guy's parents. We've had very good luck at the shows. I wish you luck! :D

Well, at the moment, I'm also waiting for major construction to be finished on the house. I went in with two other people to buy a 4900 sq ft house that was built in 1938 so it needs a bit of fixing up. I know snakes are a little sensitive to things in the air so I'd prefer not to have dry wall dust and whatnot all over when i get a new hatchling.
My mom always tells this one story of a guy who was keeping two(or was it three?) anacondas in his swimming pool (in addition to several other exotic species around his property in one of the classier neighborhoods of So Cal). When his neighbors called the police to complain about his peacocks, for their noise and the fact that they kept roosting over thier fancy cars and marring their beautiful finishes, the team sent to investigate his propert found that there was absolutely nothing keeping the anacondas in the pool except for the fact that they were well fed.
Yeah, we're busiest setting up everything to sell them(gotta make money from them to buy this other snake we have our eye on). Gotta get more pics, website and shipping all lined up.
They all seem healthy but we won't label them 'healthy' until they've eaten about 5 times, then they should be out of the woods with respect to any birth defects internal issues and such.
And yep, waht the other fur said... warm and fed. It's quite a different thing having an animal that can't show you when it's 'happy' the same way like a dog or a cat can.

Thank you! Me too, with the price some of them should fetch they will be assured of good homes (no one spends that money on a snake just to neglect it) so I kinda like the idea of selling more expensive morphs because then you know folks will take the best care of it.
They should get no bigger than 6 feet. They are from a smaller boa line.

Yep! we totally got lucky genetically with this batch! Thank you!
We'll have the website up soon with pics and prices. Still trying to determine a fair price on them but don't want to under price them because we gotta make enough with this litter to buy another snake we have our eye on!

Sure thing! I we have a multi year plan for our colony so we really have to stick to the plan, otherwise I might be interested! Next year if all goes well we'll be having another clutch from her and her sister (I think). I'll be sure to drop you the link once the pics are up. We should be taking them soon once everyone sheds.
Thank you again :D
Thank you again :D
They have been able to breed for a few years now.
I just got them les than a year ago though. I've had my female red tail for about 10 months and my male BCC/BCI mix about 4 months now.
I was going to breed them this season but my male had a burst infected abcess on his nose (it was horrid you could see the bones in his face and up the nasal cavity) so i decided not tot his season.
Bothy my boas are rescue snakes.I decided a while ago that i'll only buy snakes fromm breeders/pet stores if i'm looking for something specific for breeding and any other snakes i'll re-home from rescues. Too many people give up their snakes when thy get a bit big and i would rather give a needy snake a caring home than buy one from a shop. (i aim to open a reptile and big cat sanctuary one day)

Thanks.
The male is healing fine. he never had shedding or feeding problems anyway so wasn't all bad.
Still he hated getting injections.
Rescues are fun snakes. A bit tempermental at times but hey we are all allowed to have bad days.
I (sort of) cancelled my breeding plans now though. Redesigned my room so my local council will give me my venomous license.

I'll never get hots as rescues. The people who keep hots do it because they love their animals and would never neglect them. I may be lucky in that there has been a massive change in someones life and they simply can't keep them anymore only then would they possibly come through a rescue.
I may however come across venomoid snakes (venomous snakes who have had the venom glands surgically removed) at some point. I hate that people would do that to a snake just because of their own fear. In my opinion if you want to own a venomous snake you take it as it is a venomous snake with the potential to kill you. If your just after an ego boost or a macho man fix go buy a fucking sports car.
Plans include nothing really. I may want to breed the hots at a later point though (almost certainly will) a friend of mine in England has saw scaled vipers and a few rattlers. He'll be more than happy to help me out with any plans like that. When it comes to equipment, handling and such well the guy who owns and runs the rescue is a mate as well so i'm sure he will help out. Just wish he'd let me play with the retics though.
Once i get my sanctuary up and running i'll have a spereate section dedicated to venomous reptiles and conservation programs.
I know it seems like a big order and such but it's not some petty little urge to do something it's something i plan on working on my entire life. It may well take 30-40 years or more before it's finally up and running but i'll work at it. I honestly can't see me doing anything else with my life.
Reptiles and politics are the two big things in my life and the politics side aint going too well at the moment so i don't see me being a politician.

Aww <3 This makes me miss my baby girl. I got her when she was 10 yrs old and had been kept in an run down old shed with 3 other girls as a breeder for a petstore until the owner died. She was the sweetest girl i have ever had. unfortunately after having her for 4 years, I had to move and my new home didn't allow snakes. <=\
Those are some gorgeous stripes in there. Congrats <3

Awww, bunner you had to give her up. That is the one problem with boas, they are hard to hide! I have a Kenyan Sand Boa and you could easily hide that from a landlord..you never see her above ground..always looks like an empty cage.
Thank you! I'll post more pics of them soon!

My partner was a vet tech for years, she did the anitbiotics part and splinting. XD I gotta give her propz for nursing it back to health, now I am just building it a big flight cage.
I'm very glad it made it..it's a cool bird, lots of personality and super calm for being 'wild'.
Here it is in my lap after I first found it. The injuries were to the legs and belly, from the top, looked perfectly ok.

You could see into the muscles. A few deep puncture wounds that stopped the bird from using both legs and seemed to affect the tail too, so perhaps pelvic injury as well. Something grabbed it around the thighs with sharp teeth, talons or claws. It was difficult to tell. Foot was broken in multiple places. Sofar all healed up nicely!
She's pretty camera shy. I have like 2 "good" pictures of her, and both are her balled up in my hand.
Try to take her out to the park on of these sunny days and see what can be done!
Shes a healthy eater! but a bit shy over all, likes to hang out on the back of my neck, Or...if It have a ponytail up, she will make her way for that, and wrap herself around, so I have a snake for a hair tie =D
