Lierahen lived in a small, peaceful town in the Felia region of Aetas, and near the Felia-Hom region border. She lived alone, but her family lived in town. The town was very traditional and in-touch with Aetas' spiritual energy. They worshipped the goddess that looked over the Felia region, and they believed that they were blessed with her energy. Lierahen was looked up to by everyone in town, as she was one of the most devout followers of the goddess. Some even said that she was blessed by the goddess herself.
Five hundred years ago, the Hom region declared war on the Felia region. Lierahen's town was one of the first places riddled with war. While Felia soldiers held the Hom Region's army at the border, a Hom commander split from the platoon and flanked Felia's soldiers. The small town was set on fire to draw the Felia soldiers from the fight and split the war into two fronts.
That night, Lierahen is woke by the sound of glass breaking. She looked for the source, and found a single lantern, burning bright as it spread it's fire around the room. For a moment she prayed to her goddess for luck, before running to the lantern and picking it up. The cougar ran out of her house only to see the rest of the town suffering the same fate of her own house. One by one, Lierahen ran into each of the houses, searching for anyone that was still alive. It was to no avail.
Lierahen looked towards the outskirts of town. The Felia soldiers had responded to the attack swiftly, and dealt with the opposing soldiers. The commander led his troops towards the ruins of the town, and saw Lierahen. Even though she had ran through burning buildings, she was unscathed. No burns, no charred fur, nothing. She cried as the friendly solders approached her. The lantern burned brighter than it did before when it was surrounded with fire.
A voice reached out to her.
"I am sorry, my child," it said, "I blessed you with my love, and you tried to save them."
The cougar only cried harder as wings formed on her back.
"The souls of those lost now reside within that lantern. Guide them to closure. Fly high, O Guardian mine."
