get this.. when the hurricanes hit Florida were i live. a few miles away there were flooding and this guy in his house hanging onto the ceiling fan saw a black circle about 10 feet wide and he jumped onto it hoping it was solid and he could stand on it. he sank 5 feet into a ball of carpenter ants that bit and ate him to death and there was'nt even a shred of flesh on the skeleton that they clung onto to dearly for survival..... i wanted to cry kuz there were balls the same size every were in the flood for miles and miles down the stream. 16 people died from these balls of floating ants
I always hated ants and tried to get them to go away by digging up their tunnels when I was little (I had a weird thing for digging back then). But my mom always told me I was a bad kid and when I die I'm gonna come back as an ant and then I'll see how I like it.

Have had the experience of seeing two colonies around my house move to new homes roughly in the same time span. A colony of black ants and a colony of fire ants. Couldn't see a nice chunk of my patio in the backyard from how many of them were crossing. Was crazy seeing so many of those things @_@.

That kinda reminds me of when my brother discovered that ants had actually formed a colony under his bearded dragon's tank a few years ago...XD It was pretty damn horrible! It was like, solid ants! They even started taking sand from in the tank to make it into a home with tunnels and everything! XD
One day while i was climbing somewhere in the forest, I had my hand over and over coverd with ants. Not the small ones like on this photo, bigger ones. Holy shit I had a huge panic attack. I was lucky to not get bitten by them.
I thought, after this I should be scared of ants, but this showed me, how peaceful ants are, and that you *really* have to provoke them, to make them defend.

I was gonna say some one must have spilled something yummy. But the moving the queen hypothesis sounds more plausible. xP
I like to give ants bits of chips when I see them usually, so see how much they can carry. But I would probably have to leave that scary batch alone. Ahahah.

i had an incident with ants one time...
I was in my friend's car, not friends anymore cuz she was a bitch! Anyways, I went to sit in the back seat since the passenger seat belt was broken.
Not looking down, I snapped the seat belt closed and felt something crawling on my hands. I look down at my hand and noticed millions of ants, more then what you have in the photo, crawling everywhere! it was like a black moving blanket on the seat, and on me!
I literally jumped out of the car... seat belt still attached, fell on my face and actually ended up ripping the seat belt right out of the car XD
It turned out that somehow ants got into her car, had a heck of a picnic since her car was ALWAYS messy with food. She took the seats out and there were actually tunnels going all around the foam of the seats in the back XP

I was doing some bushwhacking in our river valley one time, when I went to sit down and take a break I stabbed my machete into and inconspicuous dirt pile before I sat down. 5 mins later I look over and the whole damn thing's completely black with ants. So I stunned them with some bug spray and scraped them off with a knife.

and it sucks cause I would of tooken a pic of it....
one time walking downtown of the aera I lived, me and my boyfriend saw something like this
and holy shit it scared me cause it was a mass of ants about the size of big glass window... 0____0
they were hunting for de bugs....
