KH Christmas (Monstropolis) Railey Good Time *snickers*
If there was one world, outside Caelum for KH alumni, that was such a pleasant surprise, it was this one. From the monumental leaked photos, to the secretive Orchaestra footage, this world was yet another Pixar addition that was SO surprising Az soaked his di---
Stop, now.
Heh heh. But it...was...
*rolls eyes* Yes. If there were one world I was most looking forward to in KH3, it was the one from Monsters Inc. What can I say, it was one of Pixar's most creative inducing films and has my favorite character in it.
And it's probably one of the few worlds we can actually walk around free in as ourselves tahaha!
Naturally, things had to be limited to the factory...but it was SO nice to explore not just the floor, the lobby, or the door vault...but OTHER places in the factory as well. You get to explore the background refinery, the maintenance and construction areas, places you don't get to see in the film. Being able to run around in familiar, and unfamiliar, places in the monster world and grinding through the door vault was just a delight to me...
I know right! It's those portions of stuff we don't get to see in their film counterparts that make actually walking through them so exciting!
I will say, though, that I was a little disappointed that there weren't more NPCs in this world...given how they said there would be more in the worlds. I mean...monsters for crying out loud, so much creativity there to work with! And it's not like Monsters Inc. doesn't have a night shift...
Then again, the building is big...maybe it's all happening on the other half?
I guess. Speaking of who IS there...aside from a CDA agent or two...Sulley and Mike are your party members. While I'm definitely at odds with these two for reasons...I wasn't so surprised Sulley was in the group, given he's the strong type...but as for Mike...I definitely didn't see him as a fighter...and thankfully, his skillset shows he's more of a distractor and cheerleader heh.
Makes sense I guess...assistant and all.
Honestly, the plot in this world is a little confusing. I mean, it happens sometime after the movie, when they're making the whole transition to Laughter and all...
Oh yeah, the scaffolding outside and all to change the motto.
Right...and Boo's there...and the whole thing is about getting her home. However, from the trailers, I saw Vanitas was there, which kind of worried me. But, it made perfect sense to see him there. The guy's made from negative emotions...and using his Unversed to scare people using the factory was on-point to him getting back together.
Buuut...
Yeah, he needed some help. And that was Randall, aka, fav Pixar character.
After getting to know him, I'm with ya there heheh.
Right...to be short, they brought him in as the antagonist for revenge purposes...and he uses the factory security and construction equipment to take the group down...as well as help from Vanitas' Unversed.
But...his goal is rather short sighted. He wants to take over the factory...but that never really was Randall's aim in the film...he just wanted to get into a better position to work from. And if that was the goal, the fact that the Unversed didn't seem to mind BURNING the factory down didn't seem to faze it. I could go on, but in the end, Vanitas outright says it...he was using Randall as a pawn. And given Vanitas is made of negative emotions, it's easy to see how manipulative he was being.
Honestly, I am a little ashamed to admit I would have loved a boss fight with him.
Me too. I mean...he can turn invisible, move fast...and as we see, he can kick somebody like Sulley several feet off!
He can be surprisingly strong, yeah. But, eh, thankfully we got a big blob thing instead. Of course, this lead to the ending of the world which...is kind of off putting. They basically just banish the guy AGAIN...and actually take JOY out of it that we see.
Yeah...and you did say Sora locking the door with the Keyblade was a bit overkill...
Yeah...he can lock that door, but he can't lock people out of a world. Even the Heartless can still show up in them, they just can't get to it's "Heart" when Sora locks it. Speaking of such, I won't go into it just yet, but has anybody noticed we've never mentioned Sora doing that VERY IMPORTANT task in the previous worlds thus far? (Toy Story and Tangled specifically) Keep that in mind.
Then again, Sora's the gullible type...he just took the other two's word for it on who Randall was and just stuck to that. Nice guy Sora may be, but he's not the best judge of character.
But, I've said it once, I'll say it again...at least Vanitas didn't end up killing him.
Y-yeah...that would have been bad.
Yep. And the fact the Heartless didn't take his heart either show's he's got some light in him after all, so that's a good thing.
So, overall, Monstropolis is a great world, especially for those who liked the world that came from the film. Personally I think there could have been some improvement plot-wise, but that's just me. And to be fair, could have been a lot worse...
*rubs neck* Oooh...wonder what his opinion would have been on this...
It's best to give the guy a break from that stuff. Then again, this world was also included to promote the Monsters At Work series coming to their little private streaming service as well...thankfully he's not in it...at least...that's what they say. Hopefully he isn't until they can treat him decently...
For Reps like us, lets hope so...
