The Other Prototype - By HotchkissTank
HotchkissTank shows us a different prototype that Philomela had. More memory. Bigger numbers. And finer manipulation. Both prototypes were eventually discarded and the entire brain redesigned.
Wayne needed both the computational power of one design and the mobility of the other design.
But... you know... you can't start out rich and become poor without spending a lot... somewhere.

It looks like the larger mechanism could also potentially contain this one's power source so she doesn't need constant winding. It seems like this Philomela prototype is almost like a puppet to her own brain.
Hmm, that makes me wonder about an automated mechanism that could quick-wind (regular) Philomela, but that's probably part of the deluxe package.

I mean... using 1920 tech you could have a different spring that you wind with an engine or something and then you attach it on her to wind her... that would reduce the time... significantly.
But that would defy the point of the character.
Also her key has always been pictured as something "small" like a wind up doll key... in my mind it actually always looked a lot like a manual drill that has the "key" bit at the end.
