You should really go back and play it, dude. The timing thing is tricky in any format, but with practice, I manage 16's just fine on an emulator, and really, you don't have to be able to combo to beat it. Even if it means a bit more grinding, I totally recommend pushing through it. The game is beautiful.
I haven't been too far, stopped pretty much right after the beginning's sad events.
I guess I need to go further ;;
It stays pretty lighthearted for a while after that to let you recover before laying the heavy on you again ^_^

The determination in that little snake's face is just awe gathering, rather inspirational. I love how the tones and tints of the color decrease as you follow the trail of characters downward. It just pops out and has me staring at it for minutes..hours.
