Funny, when the movie was first talked about, my friend Ricardo as watching Aang's journey and he told me about a movie in the works BUT because of that movie they would rename this movie to The Last Airbender. It certainly works for me, but knowing some people... I'm sure some laughs were generated, for all the wrong reasons, I'm sure!

"The Last Airbender" would be the live action movie for the cartoon... ]X8D My dad got confused as well and was like, "Oh, hey, that's the cartoon you like, right!?" and I'm like, "No!"

so? <_< in strict theory the characters are not asian but "based on asian-like countries"..so technically they can be white or black and dressed as chinese :P
seriously, that's not as important as people thinks. If they have used asian characters, 95% of audiences will say "they don't look like the ones from the cartoon".

You know what's funny? The Last Airbender was going to have "Avatar" in the title (of course since it's based of the cartoon series), but since the other Avatar film (James Cameron) was coming out, they threatened to sue the creators of the cartoon if they came out with that title, so they switched it to "The Last Airbender" I was saying "WHAT?!" at first too!
Shhhhh *blushes* at first i tried to read first book but i gave up but then i gave it another chance and what you know it got me and i watched the movie and it was soooo good....as if they extended the movie alittle to explain what happened in the book it took my breath away.
Because I don't watch any of the cartoon networks, I never even thought of the "Avatar" cartoon.
What I did think of when I first heard the title "Avatar", that it was a cartoon, about a Hindu incarnation of God ( for example, Lord Krishna is an "Avatar", or incarnation, of Lord Vishnu).

I had no confusion with the title, mostly because I saw the teaser for last airbender first wondering why it didnt carry the full name, then later that year saw posters & the teaser the james cameron film & was like, ow thats why. I couldnt really be bother to go see last airbender though, maybe just cause im not a huge fan of the airbender series.
