Honestly, just studying photos of metal might help, these pictures were done using jewelry store as reference. I'm still learning and doing material studies just to get better at it because metal is one of the hardest things to paint.
metal goes form 0 to 100 on highlights really easily and reflects stuff around it. for example part of getting gold right is mixing blue (from sky usually) into it to make subtle green shades appear on the top side of it.

I took a note for that is fantastic advice! Jade and I are both going to practice and see how the reflection and highlighting will work with the example. Practice makes the best teacher, but boy oh howdy it's also a lifesaver when you meet someone willing to convey a concept so cleanly. Thank you very much for your guidance ^w^
