The thick outlines, such as on the tree trunks on the left, the hyena mane, the manokit tail, are very striking. The colours are very goodly too. The characters and the trees and rocks stand out as a foreground very muchly. The picture immediately stood out amongst all the new submissions.

Holy crap I absolutely love the thick outlines!! It looks like a painting, and the lines don't distract from the scene at all. This reminds me of Ookami a little bit, so stylized!! Seriously, this looks absolutely bitchin'! Also, the scene in question is really, really cute. They look like they're really enjoying each others company! So sweet!

Thank you so much for saying so! I am glad it came across and I didn't make it too busy or anything. I don't do big scenery things very often so it's all a learning experience.

Of course! It was neat to hear it had that ookami style too, furthermore I was actually trying to capture that simplistic brush inking style Watterson does so well in his watercolors, so I'm happy that came through as well!

It super did! Watterson's way of using line weight to communicate space so neatly has always been one of my favorite things about his stuff, and it's really cool to see your own style integrated with it!
