Ah!

Something similar but way more uh....unpleasant, is something called "Black Eggs" that Japanese Shinobi/Ninja carry!
Its this but its not just powder but glass shards! And you throw it at the opposition's face.

But powder bombs are just as effective when it comes to a diversion!

E-er..I-I didn't mean that the kid was throwing that kind of stuff. I know he has powder bombs. I know glass wasn't discovered or made until much later.

This comic is very fun x3!! I was waiting you put more pages x3! I simply love to see the dino tied up x3! He looks so handsome there! That rope around the neck seems really nice too x3! I am just so sorry of him because he seems to be really scared xD! I am glad the boy, despiste being the most physically weak in a world full of strong furries, can really think on a plan to free his friend x3! This always shows how much inteligence is important x3! I am really looking foward to see what did he do to the sybertooth furries XD!

It looks like it was just in time to save the dinosaur's tail and with some accurate throwing it looks like all three of the improvised bombs are on target. No doubt we'll see their effects though I'm going to take a guess that we'll probably see three incapacitated sabretooths getting tied up by the end of the comic, though fortunately for them I don't think our dinosaur would be interesting in eating them.
