Hey, you might be close to the truth.... Did you notice that it actually seems that there is a gap between the grass in the foreground and the one in the background where the construction stands (visible thanks to its colour and size)... I wouldn't be surprised if there were some river there hidden to the view, where small boats could load seeds or things of this kind (salt ? sand ??) coming down from that "thing"...
Also, look at its thickness, there are some very high ones in the background, but their thickness show that it's far more far from the rare ones on the foreground than it looks like past that almost invisible gap.

Looks like an old mine of some sort. Could be iron ore or limestone perhaps. From an engineering perspective, it's pretty cool - its foundation is probably set deep into the shaft, and the overhanging construction ('hoppers'?) would allow it to unload its production directly into trucks through doors in the floor.

if it remained standing i would make it my home and outfit it with all kinds of neat laboratory and electronics equipment and musical instruments....
(after heavily fortifying the foundation and building a drawbridge and a moat and setting up gun turrets that fire nerf darts peppered with cyanide.)

And yeah, in all honesty, it looks as an unloading station for wheat/grain or maybe ore. But the rest of factory - conveyor belts bringing stuff into the station, power cables, dosing machines, etc. are dismounted.
