Act 1-3
After half a day’s walk, a small village surrounded by hills and trees came into view. The town of Phandalin was what you’d expect from a age old abandoned mining town now risen from the ashes into a small hamlet of commerce and trading surrounded by its own rows of domiciles to accommodate its populace.
Quallion, Ash, Jamie and Sti-zix followed the main road and arriving at the trade and supplies commerce building where they would drop off all the material they were sent in the first place to deliver. Once the deed was done, Quallion and Ash were payed their dues and split their earnings with their impromptu companions Jamie and Sti-Zix. With this, Sildar the knight thanked them again for the rescue and announced he would be staying at the town hall for the time being and would need time to gather his thoughts on what would come next. Leaving the Cleric and his troupe to find a place to stay and explore the town and restock on supplies.
With their business done, Jamie didn’t have any more reasons to stick around with Quallion and Ash. Sti-Zix seemed to have no where else to go either and had silently decided he was going to stick around wherever she went. She was used to being on the road on her own and didn’t know how to feel about all this yet, and without any immediate business on her agenda, she figured she might keep tabs on the cleric and the small warlock in case they happen to find more work she could tag along with.
Quallion and Ash went about visiting the local merchants around Phandalin where modest produce and goods were sold, nothing seemed to catch their eye tho. Sti-Zix however took some of his earnings to equip himself with a nice set of leather armour and some regular clothes to replace his shredded ones from his previous life.
When the sun was about to hug the horizon, turning the sky from a light blue to a bright orange, Jamie noticed a few thugs skulking around in red attire down a road leading to what looked like the bad part of town. She let Sti-Zix know she was gonna explore some more and meet up with him at the tavern later before making her way through the houses and alley ways to see what was the deal with these red caped scoundrels.
An hour had passed, the roguish Jackalope had gathered that these « red robes » were the local ruffians in Phandalin and had set up shop somewhere In the town from where they would occasionally wrestle money out of the local businesses for « protection » they called it. Her curiosity got the better of her and she followed a group of three walk up the path to an old abandoned mansion where she stealthily rounded the corners of. The inside of the mansion was quite literally a husk of its former glory, now simply an outpost of sorts for the bandits, nothing anyone would call a base or a camp. Further the investigating the surroundings, Jamie discovered a staircase leading down the basement behind the mansion. Noticing light shine through the cracks, she would have turned around right then and there but it bagged at her, she needed to take a look inside.
Peering into the basement, a brightly lit room fournished with a water fountain, a well maintained stone room revealed itself to her. No one seemed to be in the area, and thus she dared explore the depths of what seemed to be the red robes’s makeshift hideout. She ventured into one of the many rooms with a careful step, ready to dash out of the exit at a moment’s notice, painfully aware of the imminent danger she was in. A large stone hallway spread out before her eyes, it was empty of course, but the floor showed signs of having been tampered with, she made note of this as she slipped along the wall to avoid the pitfall and make her way into the next room. Again, it was empty, exept for a few sarcophagus and two more doors. When she was just about to peek into one of the morbid stone boxes, she heard voices passed the hollow corridors and quickly hug the corner of the door she left open. Red caped bandits had entered the water fountain room from another direction and from the sound of it were exiting the hideout. Jamie didn’t want to get found out with hostiles on either end of this basement compound and decided to leave after making sure no more sounds could be heard from the other room.
Jamie exited the hideout and was met with two bandits outside, face to face. Panic creeped into her body and she leaped out of the trench and onto solid ground before running and stumbling down the large hill the mansion was built upon. After successfully evading capture, she needled her way through the town’s houses to avoid notice while limping her way to the tavern. She finds her companions sitting at a table eating and drinking and takes a seat next to them in the middle of a conversation.
With how beaten up she was, it didn’t take long before they pressed her for the details of her excursion. Jamie was quite open about the information since she knew Quallion and Ash had a professional interest in establishing relations with Phandalin in the name of Neverwinter, and ridding the red robes would be one way to do it. Her motives were set purely on the gains associated with it of course.
Before long, a few red robes burst their way in the establishment. Startled, Jamie duck under the table, dipping her head down so her antlers wouldn’t scrape the bottom of the wooden table. After a few minutes, the scoundrels left to search elsewhere and the bartender knowingly urged her to get in a room early tonight to avoid any trouble. She sheepishly took his advice and payed her room for the night, leaving her companions to converse together without her. She barricaded herself in her room just in case that night and slept like a log.
