The color-coded balls on the string ends provide a small rainbow of color against the black finish of my Ovation Legend acoustic.

Yes, to help identify the strings. The coloring isn't strictly necessary, since the gauges are all different. It's just a little quicker and easier to pick out the one with the gold end first rather than lay the strings out side-by-side to compare thickness.

D'addario Strings. I use to use them for years, but made a switch to Slinky's by Ernie Ball

My acoustic guitars all get D'Addarios. Got them on my mandolins too. But I'm favoring Aquila stings for some of my ukuleles.

I love D'Addario strings. I put them on everything -- even my big stand-up acoustic bass. They stay in tune, and I've never broken many.

They have a low survival rate on my lute-kulele. As soon as the A string hits A-flat, it's all over. Aquila Super Nylguts are my go-to uke strings now.
