Our pretty maja shows us her fancy face. Take note of the "nose", the rostrum, sticking out in between and in front of her eyes. One of the best ways of telling this species and the King Crab, Paralithodes camtschaticus, apart is in the rostrum structure. Maja's rostrum has a distinctive forked structure, as we can see, whereas camtschaticus has a solid, unforked rostrum.
