Evil Incarnate - Bobby Prince
Since I did something sweet and mushy, naturally my brain wanted to do something that's kind of in the opposite; inspired by the track of a certain bonus level in the original Doom II, it's the depiction of four members of organizations associated with brutal totalitarian regimes that carried out all manner of atrocities. Two fascist, two communist, one of each I originally concepted after coming up with the idea and the others took a bit of time to get right.
Ekaterina Igorievna Zhadanova
A long-term member of various Soviet internal security organizations, Ekaterina is a firm Bolshevik and is incredibly cruel and sadistic towards those she perceives as counter-revolutionaries. Tall and intimidating, she is very domineering and is all too eager to prove that both to her subordinates and to her victims. She was involved with Cheka operations to lure in and kidnap White emigres in Western Europe and bring them to Moscow for show trials, notably the failed attempt to capture one Boris Ignatov in 1924. During the Spanish Civil War, she was one of those GPU agents sent to oversee Republican activities and aid them in combating reactionary elements within their territory; later, she would oversee occupied territory during the Second World War before escaping to the SSPR after the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic's dissolution.
Eztebe Bengoechea
A Basque member of the Communist Party of Spain, he collaborated with the Rsusian GPU to combat Nationalist support in the territory the Republican government controlled during the Civil War. After the Republicans’ victory, he participated in the ruthless purge of the Catalan anarchists and the Basque nationalists as well as the pillaging and destruction of various monasteries and convents. In 1940 after Portugal was invaded and occupied, he was stationed in Lisbon to work with local communists to build up support and suppress monarchist activities. A violent sadist, Eztebe takes glee in torturing captive counterrevolutionaries.
Mihail Baboescu
Named after Saint Michael, Mihail was a young lad when his homeland was invaded and occupied by the Allied nations of Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria, and Poland-Lithuania. His father and older brothers were killed fighting against the invaders and both he and his family resented the occupiers. After the end of the Great War, Mihail became an embittered sar who viscerally-hated the Germans, Hungarians, and Bulgarians, as well as those whom he perceived aided Romania’s enemies (namely the Jews and Gypsies). He soon found himself with the Iron Guard, becoming a stalwart Legionary ready to fight and die for Conducator Codreaneau and for his Romanian fatherland. When Romania and her allies declared war on Hungary, Bulgaria, and Turkey in the spring of 1941, Baboescu oversaw the destruction of villages populated by Germans, Hungarians, and Jews, massacring scores of innocents and tracking down any survivors.
Kobayashi Takahiro
Born in Himeji, home to the famous castle, Takahiro’s father fought in the army during the Great War and was wounded in a landing on the misty Oregonian coastline. Growing up, he had an estranged relationship with his father who expected much of his chicks; this led to him joining the Kenpeitai military police in the mid-1930s. After completing his training, he would soon be stationed in Manchuria right around when the Japanese Empire attacked China and began a decades-long war; his station would constantly move from Mukden to Shanghai to eventually Hong Kong in 1942, the latter of which he would remain at for the rest of his career. In addition to keeping the locals under control and smashing up any dissent, he also helped process prisoners of war, most of these from the British Commonwealth and the Netherlands as the Imperial army steamrolled through the East Indies.
