Packard did build quite a bit of Merlins and the Product improved for mass production V1650, but with only our KittyHawk and Mustang fighters really using them, more went to export for the British who operated the Merlin in a dozen or so airframes.
It ends up with Packard making about 55,000 Merlin types, and the various RR factories and Ford making over 111,000 Merlins, such was the British appetite for them.
I couldn't even begin to find up the number of Wright Cyclones and clones produced in comparison. Yikes. I find defense logistics and industrial considerations very very interesting.
