Designed by Kota Imai and folded by me
I used one uncut 50cm square of single tissue treated three times with mc.
This one took me a while and made me step out of my comfort zone quite a bit but when your grandma requests you a beetle for Christmas, you don't hesitate ! I made it from CP and it really helped me learn a lot of stuff and get more confident with solving them. I first made a few tests folds of different parts of the model before collapsing the base with kraft, then I collapsed and shapes the final model. My grandma was very happy with it.
I'm very happy with how it turned out, despite not really looking as good as I had hoped. I should have tried cleaning up more of the glue visible on the legs but it's barely visible irl. I'm still really happy with it, i can't wait to start solving more complex CPs !
Finally, I'd like to apologise for the delay between posts. I've been very busy with college and I barely have time to fold, but it should be good after my finals in two weeks

Yet another amazing piece! I can’t believe that’s just from a single sheet and not multiple parts assembled together :o
As someone who studies zoology, I can see that this is quite accurate. The jointing of the legs are easy to see and you included the lower mandible which a lot of people overlook!
I’m glad you had the courage to step out of your comfort zone and fold this amazing piece! Hopefully you’ll be able to try more ambitious projects in the new year c:
