The small raccoon glanced up from her bow, clad in warm furs
and leathers, to gaze upon the young ruler she'd only heard tale
of. Most of the surrounding kingdom's had yet seen the princess,
as her father had kept her locked away since the queen's passing.
But now - only she was left to rule, and there she sat, perched upon
her throne of jewels and gold like a fragile porcelain doll that would shatter if touched.
"Thank you for having me, your highness, on such short notice. I come
from the northlands to offer a trade deal at the request of my king."
The ambassador stood up straight from her lowered position, straightening
out her attire. Given the rumors she had heard, she didn't expect the negotiations
to go over well, or even be seen for that matter.
"You may speak, ambassador. what would you like to negotiate?"
The ambassador's jaw went slack with shock. This small girl in front of
her didn't seem like the cruel witch she was said to be. If anything her
voice was calm and collected, ringing through the hall like a bell.
"My king would like to negotiate the trade of your enchanted moonsteel
ore, your highness, in exchange for the fire rubies and other valuable gems of the north."
The princess sat quietly, contemplating her options. It wasn't often a
neighboring country sent an ambassador to negotiate trades, let alone
one from the northern borders where magical gems were in good supply.
"Very well, ambassador. Return home, tell your king I'm in agreement with his
barter and send word to his guard of opening a safe trade route for my people."
Kharisa shifted in her seat, resting both palms squarely on the arms of her throne.
"However, as your trip is long, please stay the night over, and enjoy the luxuries of my castle
for a while longer. My mages say a storm will brew tonight and you shouldn't be out it in."
The raccoon bowed slightly, thanking the princess before being
shown to a room on the west wing by a stewardess.
This princess was nothing like the rumors.
