Finland: Sheng Lhanzao to the Eurovision Song Contest 2025

Sheng Lhanzao, 23 year old dragon born in Rovaniemi has won Finland’s Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (UMK) with his song “When You Need It” after trying every edition since turning 16, has finally won the Finnish ticket to the Eurovision Song Contest, a goal described by him as “the biggest goal of my life since I was 5 years old.” Sheng took to the UMK Stage once again with his big and emotional power ballad “When You Need It” Sheng won UMK with the majority support of the juries, placing him second in their vote, and the Televote clearly moved deep in their hearts, bringing him to the victory, placing him first in the Televote resoundingly with a lionshare of the available points, and being handed the overall win as a result.

Finland first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1961, and has won on just only one occasion, with Lordi and Hard Rock Hallelujah in the Athens hosted contest in 2006
