I recently bought the M16 (above) from the same junk store as the Steyr AUG (below). Like the others, this isnt a true Airsoft. It makes a noise and there's a flashing light. But the resemblance to the real weapon is pretty good. There's a working tactical light and laser. The scope does noting, but like the post grip it can be removed from the Picatinny rail. Also, the butt slides back and forth. Lamentaly, the magazine is one piece with the rifle.
I recently repaired the Steyr as well. The sound and flashing light didn't work originally. There was a loose wire that was easy to repair. I don't care for the flashing lights, and paint over the trasparent pairs, but, bad as the machine gun noise is, I like it to "do" something when I pull the trigger.

I prefer the real ones, http://dl.dropbox.com/u/49917/gunst.....21-09Named.jpg
But I enjoy my airsoft guns as well.

Real firearms are a little over the top for me -- all I do is aim that at people I don't like on TV, but don't want to blow up the TV!
Besides, real guns cost a lot more than toys. I'd have to keep them locked up and obey other restrictions that, while not unreasonable, are more trouble than I want to go to so that I can shoot at guys on talk shows. I don't even know where such things could be had in Toronto. I went to a coule of gun shops looking for brass cartridges for my models (to replace the cheezy plastic ones). Not only did they not sell anything as exotic as Luger or Glock, they had no ammo for them either. Gun owners around here seem to favour rather pragmatic arms, like .38 S&W pistols for firing ranges, or .30 hunting rifles. No Uzis or Steyrs.

I don't know about Glock (which comes in several "flavors" of calibre), but the Luger mainly used the 9mm round that is pretty much one of the commonest in use. I do some reloading and could probably run off some non-firing rounds (sand instead of gunpowder, dead primer).
Not to worry. I long ago got all the empty and fired brass I needed. The top 10 or 15 rounds of my "working" model M-177, for instance, are brass with actual rounds -- just no caps or powder.
Oddly, I have a collection of live rounds as well. I only sought a handful of samples, but people got so carried away that the collection is much larger than I had any need of.

Why ask me? I only make plastic firearms. But I did learn something of the real workings by building some very realistic Japanese Kits. They reproduce all the actions of a real firearm, except that they would blow up if you were stupid enough to put a live round in them. You build a few of those and you get an idea of how they work. The tricky part is that they don't sell those kits in North America anymore, as far as I know. Too many cops were upset by it. They'd rather people robbed banks with real guns than fake ones, I guess... You could try googling for a Japanese company called LS.
