It had been months since Natalia had last heard from her lover. The wizard had gone to fight in a war in service to his country, and he promised he would always write to her. For a time, Natalia would receive a letter every week or so, sometimes a little early, and sometimes a little late. Then the letters simply stopped coming. Weeks passed, then months. Even after the war was over, she never heard back from him. The arctic fox was forced to accept a simple, grim truth, that her lover was not coming home, and soon she was to give birth to and raise their child all on her own.

So I'm uploading this a little out of order. I commissioned another artist to draw Natalia and her lover actually conceiving Alissa, but said artist has been very busy. Oh well! I think this came out perfectly and it clearly captures the mood even with zero context!
