It’s Sierra (Amur/Siberian tiger) from Jungle Cat World and is popping up to say hello.
Right after this shot was taken she attempted to steal my camera away. One of the trickiest parts about getting photos of tigers and other zoo animals in close quarters is that they are almost always curious about cameras or looking to get a scratch. In either case, they will likely be too close and too worked up to get a decent photo. I’ve struggled with this for quite a while, but am getting better at taking advantage of short-lived opportunities. If I don’t that’s okay too because I still get to spend some happy time with happy animals and the memories of such times are worth more than any photo.

Tigers are the largest of the big cats and are exclusively found in Asia from India to Vietnam, from Indonesia to the Russian Far East. The tiger can be divided into 9 subspecies: 4 are currently critically endangered and 3 are already extinct. Though estimations of tiger populations only a few years ago was 5,500-6,000, today populations are likely closer to 3,500 and are still declining. Dramatic declines of the tiger in India, thought to host the majority of the world’s tigers, have fallen to less than 1,411. Overall, the past decade has seen a 40% reduction in tiger habitat, which now represents a mere 7% of its historic range. Poaching is a significant problem throughout the tiger’s range, the demand for its body parts in traditional medicines, tonics, and exotic dishes driving a lucrative trade that is wiping out entire populations. Long-term threats include habitat fragmentation and prey depletion, which is accelerating the tiger’s demise and subsequently reducing the long-term genetic viability of many populations.
If you want to help, the best for you to do is to educate yourself (http://www.savethetigerfund.org), never buy products made from tigers or endangered species (http://www.wildaid.org), and tell others. Contact me for more information.

I wanna poke her nose in a gentle way. cats look adorable when they then close their eyes (so the stupid two-legger can't stab them, I guess is't some reflex).
I'm reminded of a docu on german TV where they look behind the scenes at assorted german zoos. now, one zoo has a lion who seems to be terrified by the dark, giant, single, lifeless eye of a camera. no matter the size, as soon as he sees one (and he seems to feel being wacthed through a lens) he freaks out like nobody's business. now, one day they needed a close-up photograph, and the documentary now showed how they tried to cover the large glass front of the cage with black cloth to conceal the camera. it helped a bit, but the poor guy quickly got nervous as soon as the camera was set up, so they only had time for two or three shots in all. :)

He must have confronted his father about a stolen kidney, only to be pushed out a window, landing on his back, paralyzing him before he got on an airplane which crashed on an island where he was miraculously healed, found a hatch, became leader of the others, left the island by turning a giant wheel, tried to convince other survivors to come back, but was strangled to death by jealous Ben before going back to the island in a casket where a smoke monster adopted his image only to be killed when the island's plug was removed and then he appeared in purgatory to let go of his past life and was reborn as a lion, which roars "Don't tell me what I can't do!"

...sounds like typical hollywood serial script stuff. including three seasons and five consecutive cinema movies which have nothing to do with the series, except for the names and one famous actor who had only a cameo in the series ayway.
or a strange computer game, who knows. :)
