Lack of studying on my part-based on the description I read of cat claws, I thought they grew between the toes. It wasn't 'till after I saw a picture after the comic was posted that I realized the bones they were talking about were at the end of the toe, not between.

That first panel is great! Really gives me the impression that Cat is the type who tosses and turns in her sleep. Blanket all bunched up, plushie about to fall off the bed, arm sprawled out over her head.

Yeah, I agree that the claw placement is awkward here.
