*knods knods* people have been judging me my entire life, so I get that
I'm not exactly slow to understand, but I do need a moment to wrap my head around a new concept.
I'm Fairly slow to anger, but when I DO get angry, I do NOT cool off quickly.
I'm just stating my opinion here, I'm not mad at anyone... except that person that asked a question that I tried to answer, but they have me blocked... I'd never even SEEN them before and they have me Blocked. (No Names Mentioned)

Best way to put this kind of mindset, I find, is: They don't miss when things were better, they miss when they knew less. That cartoon/game/movie you say was better? You just didn't know as much about everything around it. You were a kid, you just thought "wow, cool thing!" but now you can't just see it that way.
They don't miss the thing, they miss their younger self.
(Or they are just bigots, either or)

Well some of this might actually be that they weren't in nearly as deep as they are now. It felt like the people I talked with in the past, we could talk about anything and pretty much no problem. But feels like something changed within the last several years, that now you can't even talk about star wars without someone jumping down your throat. But thats just a theory. And everyone just lost the game.
People's skin in general seems to have gotten a lot thinner, regardless of political or social views. Or even outside of stuff like that - gamers will fly off the handle if things literally aren't perfect, people will rip movies to shreds over slight plot holes... it's exhausting.
Oh yes, politics and drama have always existed in the fandom so I dunno where those people got that from, I can think of many situations from 2004 to 2006 that had lots of juicy drama.
Though, I do have to mention that often times people also use this as an excuse to then insert said drama & politics into everywhere even where it doesn't belong. To put this in simple terms: Someone taking their pants of in a strip-club is expected but I'd advice against doing it in church. :P
I also agree with Triskavanski here, compared to what I remember from 'ye olde days' people have gotten more malicious and pettier than in the years before; in the past there would be drama, yeah but people would talk about it for a week or two and afterwards it would've mostly died down or the people in question would've patched things up. Nowadays, all it takes is for an answer or a sentence to be taken out of context and you're branded forever or put on a list somewhere... so yeah, it has gotten out of hand.
