Freeman is a once-retired commander of the Monarchy, having once held the title of North Wind. In recent years, he’s been not too proud of his past position, despite having retired enough to settle down in the town of Pendant as an innkeeper.

Recent tales of corruption amongst the Order of Winds has him willing to hedge his bets on traveling with the wandering ronin Ham as an excuse to travel to Papillonia. If he cannot bring reform to the Winds, he’s accepted that he may have to strike down his old squadron for the betterment of the people of the Monarchy. He has a low opinion of the ever-present Winds, despite having been one of them. This seems to be mutual, as it is a Wind Officer who assigns him to what is considered as suicide mission to Choka.

Freeman is the townsperson of Pendant assigned to investigate the ghost town of Choka with Ham, who is hired as a mercenary/impromptu exorcist. After Ham defies all odds by actually exorcising the ghost of Locusta, Freeman decides that he, Eveline, and Valerie will serve as suitable allies in his goal to reform, and if need be, forcibly abolish the Order of Winds.

As Paladin, he's the Tank of the party and has a very high defense in addition to even more defense-oriented skills, including applying Regen to allies.
