This was a fun little distraction to mess around with for a few hours last night.
Take a few steps away from your monitor and stare at the images until they merge into one in the middle. There should be some 3D elements, particularly around the feet and other recessing areas. Whether or not you can get it to work depends entirely on your eyes... if the images appear too large to get them together on your monitor, take a few more steps back, or just save the image to your hard drive and zoom it out a bit with the Windows picture viewer or something similar.
This was a surprisingly easy thing to get to work, and admittedly this is very thrown-together as a test of the technique. I might do more work with this trick with future pictures and put some actual time into bringing multiple levels of depth into it.

Cool effect, especially for being "thrown together". Just a couple points, though. First, the images DO need to either be closer together, and maybe have a greater ratio of height to width. If the sword were at less of a horizontal angle, or just plain shorter, the effect would be easier to see properly. Also, the background - at least to my eyes - seems to distract a bit from being able to see the effect. It may help with some people, but at least for me, it didn't. Lastly, it might be easier to get it to work right, if you start with less detailed base images. For instance, try leaving off the knives (or is it her mini-crossbow) strapped to her thigh, or the straps on her legging pieces and gloves.
Please, don't take this as me being critical, as I DO like the artwork on its own merits. Just trying to point out some things that might make the 3-D effect work more easily. I'm no artist myself, but I definitely have an eye for details and composition. I really like the base image itself, particularly her pose and expression. It's just that 3-D images tend to work better, when there's SOME detail, but it doesn't take much to overwhelm the senses, at times.
Hope this helps, and I DO hope you give this effect another go, at some point.
