This is a reference to the short story "Duel" / "Desire" (? Tokyopop's translation is so inconsistent :/) from volume 9 of the original series. To avenge a wronged child's death, Count D (D伯爵) awakens the tiger from within the scroll painting to deliver a final reckoning.
...those backlit curtains took me so long to render right. >.>
