HID bulbs in housings not designed for them is illegal. It's a violation of FMVSS 108.

Yup. And I can't stand being on the road with guys who do that. HID housings are very specifically designed to minimize the glare of such an amazingly bright bulb. If you don't have the right equipment... Even on low you're blinding the driver approaching you.

Angers me to no end. I wish I had a police style spotlight so I could point it right in the eyes of those pricks.

Don't do it.

I know you don't quite care about automotive laws, but yeah. One car without a cat, or with a race set up doesn't do any harm, or any more than annoy due to a loud exhaust.

But blinding oncoming drivers with your low beams?

Understandable. Ideally, I wanna do a projector retrofit into these housings if I can find some small enough to fit. Or just.. Do it anyways. Nobody bitches about any of the Honda ricers that do it, and they have no light cutoff at all. A kit is less than $100, so if I put it in and they blind people, I can change them back. I'm not too terribly worried about it.

Nobody complains about the ricers just because they have no opportunity. What can you do, pull a 180 and chase down the offending driver?

I abhor those jerks, and those people are exactly the reason I wish I had a spotlight in my car to shine in the eyes of the offending driver.

When I come across people with lights like that I switch my cars headlights to high beam and turn on the fog lights.
