Loosely inspired by seeing, erm, intimate fanart of Spyro and Cynder, as well as cute Christmas art, I wanted to draw something sweet... followed by subsequently drawing something, ah, a little dark. Here, we have Greta and Adeck cuddled under a blanket in the latter's living room, heated by an unseen fireplace and listening to pleasing holiday music on an adjacent radio; when Adeck wasn't flying prototype aircraft, he lived in a house on the outskirts of Magdeburg where he could only hear the distant sirens and kept the lights shut. Of course, by late 1943, the bombings stopped as the French Air Force was either completely destroyed or had defected to the Free French government; that December, Greta left Braunschweig via train to visit her family in Dresden before spending Christmas with Adeck, still a little conflicted about her relationship with Ulrich. For nearly a week, they spent the evenings snuggled together, briefly forgetting about the troubles of their work and of the Weltkrieg. Unfortunately, once the holiday had passed, they would have to return to their normal schedules; Greta traveled back to Braunschweig, to work in the secret Uranverein laboratory where her boss Dr. Rosenblatt's work was nearly a year away from completion while Adeck did more test flights of Messerschmitt's MD-262 jet fighter to prep the design for slated production in the early spring of 1944.
