hmm idk that movie

a guy goes on a drug run in this car. the cops employ clever tactics and even a '68 Charger to try and catch him. Eventually they bring two bulldozers together and when he tries to run between them.....

Then you better check it out. It's one of the best movies Barry Newman has been in, IMO.

The 1971 version was my favorite, even though the 1971 Challenger amazingly turned into a 1965 Dodge Dart seconds before it impacted with the Bulldozer Blade.

I thought it was a '70?

Actually, the car that they used for the bulldozer crash scene was a 67 Camaro.

That made me like the movie even more. I was glad they didn't trash the main car for that scene like they did to the E-type hearse in Harold and Maude... that scene made me cry. :P

I've researched this, and the 5 Challengers used in the original film in 1970 were loaners from Chrysler which had to be returned to the company at the conclusion of shooting. Hence, they couldn't destroy any of the real cars for the climactic shot and substituted a junk Camaro painted white. In fact the Challengers were delivered in varying colors and the filmmakers painted them all white to match, so they'd show up well on screen in wide shots of the landscape.

The cars were pretty beat up at the end of shooting and deemed unsaleable by Chrysler which had them all crushed. If they only knew what they'd become worth as movie memorabilia in any condition!

I have seen both Vanishing Point movie and i like the remake much better.
