While both Sonic and Tails are more than fast enough to avoid Dr.Eggman giant robots, sometimes the little fox gets lost in thought as he tries to figure out the evil scientist plans and machinery... and this distraction often gives said machinery enough time to squash him like a pancake.
So when this happens, it's always up to Sonic and his other friends to peel him from whatever surface he got stuck to, and hang him somewhere safe until the battle is over... that if they don't end up with the same wobbly fate.
