It's NOT a dream, it's a nightmare for Star, but she is wide awake, the whole base knows about it, and I've got to say Sammy did a really great job with the story and this time of year. Remember, THIS coming Friday IS the 18th, so be looking out for Togs for Sprogs in your nearby military base.
Of course, if you're in the U.S., find your local U.S. Marine Recruiting center and drop off an unwrapped toy for their Toys for Tots program!

This fundraising (which tbh is a nice trick from Marellis to maintain his grip on her, even mentionning that Star is volunteering helps cover a... little (pun intended)... bit about the blackmail) can turn into a mess (yh, yh... Pun after pun) if Star makes it a dud by fussing too much... Also, with the event being public (assuming it is), Star's possible allies would be in the know
-Martin could be unlikely as he's a Salon dresser and weekdays are busy there as an experience from my mom who had seen her friends always being busy weekdays, then happily breath at weekends
-Any of Martin's contact that is stacking up evidence to take down Marellis

piss hey if you need some untraceable weapons for your revenge on this marellis guy I got some you can buy at the low price of 20$ like some shotguns, sniper rifles, and the also very popular revolvers I got many revolvers like the six-shooter, 3 barrel shooters, and the legendary 24 shooter
Seems the answer is photo, in which case Marellis just openly committed a serious crime, which seems... sloppy. Also, isn't this already him breaking his deal with Star? He promised not to mess with her if she behaved professionally. I don't know why the blackmail would still be effective now that he's proven he doesn't keep his word. And not telling her what he was about to do? There was a good chance of her accidentally exposing herself before she found out what was going on, which would have ruined his blackmail and ended his career. Perhaps he's become overconfident?
Either way, it was nice while there was no Marellis, but now that he's back to Marellising, I think I'm going to have to bow out of reading this comic for a while. Would be nice if there would be a journal post or something when this Marellis section is over so I'd know when to come back.

That's still heart-breaking news that you made your own character go to this over 9000 shades of embarrassment, is New year the moment that the Marellis wave stop, or that good things start occurring again ('cause even I am doubting that I should continue if this downhill becomes a highway thru hell)
Sharing that kind of image in canada without permission is an indictable offense here. Not to mention its slander and blackmail which can lead to serious civil penalties. I wont even get into the national defense act charges...

..........I just agreed to the photo being before her hair color was changed. Marellis and Star have not prepared for a charity party. It's very clear and obvious that the flyer is a complete shock to star, so I'm not sure how you are suggesting Marellis and Star prepared for this party...

Who is the "she" that you are referring to? It seems that you are implying that the "she" is Star.

It's not that complicated... he had a photo of star dressed as a baby and put that on the flyer. Since it's literally the only photo he has of her, he had no choice in what hair color he prefers. Everybody else knows the photo was taken before Star changed he hair because they are aware that time moves linearly.
Well... He does have a VIDEO of the ABDL BBQ featuring her in that dress, Star also stated that its length was around 15 minutes, easy peasy to pick the more SFW picture of the lot, photoshopping it on the flyer, then distribute them when he was ready. Sarge must have "planned all along" during the tuesday to thursday interval (which would be obvious from his evil grin the page before the bag inspection)
I have to say, I really start to HATE sarge more and more. Star's ABDL side is something she enjoys and just started to explore and understand in the safety of people who do understand her and who want to help her. And Marellis is taking it and makes it into a big joke for his own enjoyment. Humiliation can be fun, but only when you do it with people who you trust.
Manda, Lure and Tessa maybe have played with her, but they always made sure that Star was also comfortable with the situation and not going too far.

I wouldn't be surprised if Star decides to admit in front of the entire base BEFORE NOON that this is an entire fraud, and she got blackmailed by Marellis...

As you said, this is something only Marellis and Star will truly understand. This has nothing to do with a work-related punishment. He is just putting her on the spot with this whole thing without telling her what he is doing. When you agree to work for someone, then there are clear ways how a employee is punished. Blackmailing is NOT part of it. It's even Illegal. With this kind of surprise, Star could have been broken. Fearing that everyone would instantly know about her secret. Like when she had just the plushy, she feared that everyone would instantly know she was an Adult Baby just by seeing her holding it. It's a fear that many AB/DL's have in the beginning and I can relate to this fear.
As good as Star is at her job, Marellis is clearly acting outside his boundaries as her superior.

Baby-themed fundraiser leading to plausible deniability? fiendishly clever. He can embarrass and tease her and make it look like it's all in good fun... and Star has to play along "for the kiddies" or she'll look like a spoil sport. But even this is enough to cause the whole base to tease her for dressing up like a baby for who knows how long?

Yeah, while our antagonist is short sighted he's not stupid. If he drops stars secret then golly gee wiz that's a blackmail charge for you and if this is based of us law then up to 14 years in jail for you bucko. Additionally, not to mention you lose your job in the military for breaking the law.
PS...up until this arch of the story I was SUPER enjoying it but the second it got into the blackmail and bullying by that jerk I have been getting more and more angry and it's actually starting to affect my ability to thnk straight when I see a new page is out and the bullying of it is just getting worse in exponential ways that are just...full on disgusting. I'm actually considering not checking my FA for couple of weeks cause the stress of this arch have murderated my little little side to the point I can't see the cuteness in ANY AbDL art anymore
Worry not, little Babystar, I also was thinking what kind of information was in the pair of characters' paws (Hands! Bad habit ;3) from 2 pages ago... Good thing that this was no direct picture... But terrible move for Marellis that she was "photoshopped" on to that event page. Even though this is a one-timer event (which will make Star late to meet with Manda), the trauma effect on her being out in public can become immesurable. That piece of paper can (and WILL) become the next piece of evidence as she can witness that her picture was taken originally from the BBQ she was attending... But doing so would also mean that she'll be ready to admit that part of her out...
Honestly, I think comments like that are rude and uncalled for... You're not doing anything wrong and this person is actively trying to shame you from expressing yourself through your storytelling and artwork, so you'll stop producing it because they don't have the mental or emotional maturity to not read it when they're in a better headspace.

Agreed... I find a certain entertainment from such relatable events... Analyzing its future possibilities can create some additionnal inspiration. Sadly, not everyone is the same, and terrible words are spreaded...

I'm just some rando on the web, but please don't be too sad. This story arc has made me angry too, but that's one reason I like your writing so much. Good storytelling evokes emotion in the audience - if someone can't handle the story, you're not at fault for that. No one is being forced to read it.
Please don't be discouraged. I know I'm not alone in saying I'm hooked on the story and look forward to seeing how this all pans out.

I literally had my step father break a chair over my back for being into ageplay when I was 11 and had to be homeschooled for a while because of intense bullying on several different occasions. You need to get over your own stuff or, at the least, not project it onto other people. It's not cool.
I'm sorry it made you sad kitten I know you didn't mean to cause such reactions and I'm not even mad at you it's just been really hard and painful for me to get into the comic during the bullying arch cause it hit a major trigger for me cause of my own past with bullies including 1/2 of my DNA in the form of my dad. I DO enjoy the comic I'm just having trouble reading it and not being able to see the end result of the bullies acitons coming if that makes sense.
You have to keep on creating and writing what's right for you. The comic is about what you want to do with it and what's important to you. If someone else can't handle it, that's a battle and a journey in their own life that they have to work to overcome.

punishment? this is no punishment, if dressing you as a baby and humiliating you in public, and using private pictures of you without your consent in a public event is punishment in you eyes, then maybe you need some soap in thsoe eyes my friend. Even in the militar service that's not okey, even if it were common on some places it doesn't make it okey... in some places is common for a man to beat the crap out of their spouces but that doesn't mean is OK (oh! the woman didn't cook a nice enought dinner, i'll take the crap our of her or mentally torture her with everyword i can spit from my mouth from now to forever, but it's okey, it's just "punishment"). Marellis is a really cool character, and awesome villain... and what's happening in the comic is indeed interesting and to a lot of people relatable (something a lot of authors can't deliver). BUT, being an awesome character doesn't make him an good person, nor makes their actions right or less wrong. HE IS AN ABUSER, HE IS A MONSTER. AND THAT'S OKEY, because marelis is the VILLAIN. Being a charismatic, realistic or interesting DOESN'T makes him any less evil and abusive. WEcan enjoy a villain for what they are VILLAIN, but the moment we start romanticing or justifying their behaviours we are in trouble. I can like the Joker (from batman), but taht doesn't mean i want to be like him, nor that i think what he does is okey. The Joker had killed lots of people, even children, had traumaticed multiple characters for life, beat the crap out of her lover (physically AND mentally) in every oportunity he finds and even tortured, raped and put in a wheelchair for life barbara gordon (batgirl). Marelis is like the joker, they are villains, they are not the good guys, they are in the wrong here. We don't need to justify his actions in the good side of the moral compass to enjoy him as a character.

Yeah, like, it's a GREAT comic, and there's SO much good stuff in it- but it' still a story. Stories follow patterns, the hero's journey and other such concepts, and this is literally just part of that. You're getting to the beginning of stage 8, 'the ordeal.' This is the most trying time for the hero, and this next arch is going to define Star's adventure. She's entered the cave, must slay the monster, grab the treasure, and return to some state of normal.
Now, not all stories DO end like that. Sometimes, our hero fails. That's life. Not all stories have happy endings.
Attaching your ENTIRE ABDL/Babyfur persona and feelings to this, or any comic, isn't healthy. If there's a lesson to be learned here from previous parts, it's that the comfort and level of acceptance someone has with the fetish/lifestyle HAS to come from within, even if others help you get there. You need to find your own inner peace with that and not push negative feelings onto others, just because it makes YOU uncomfortable. People face worse challenges every day.

What I wonder now is, what's Marellis' profit from targeting Star like this? While we know him as an arrogant blackmailing pos (piece of shit), what could his motives be? Gah this comic keeps hitting far too close to home. I was sexually blackmailed at 16 and I feel this pain. It never got anything like this but Jesus dose it bring up old memories. This is so so horrid for someone to do, over and over I keep running though things that could happen and ways someone can get out of this, but nothing ends right.

Again. The dictionary definition is not the law definition. The “be a better trooper” is a demand which is stated in the law but not in the definition. The “tell your friends and they see” is a threat and although not a demand it will hold up in a setting of law. This insistence upon something being gotten out of this is rather foolish when it only says that in the dictionary.

I mean, you’re not WRONG, but once he does that, it’s over. Any control or leverage he has over her is gone. While I am not, and desire not to BE, a manipulative scumbag, if you have blackmail on someone you don’t reveal it to the world unless you know you’re not going to get any more value out of keeping it a secret. It’s far more useful for him to string her along and get as much out of it as he can, using her secret against her for his own benefit whenever possible. This is something clearly very entertaining to him, flirting with revealing her secret without outright DOING it, and probably has other benefits as well on top of just humiliating her.

That is all correct. Which makes this all genius. Star will need to run her own gauntlet all the while being a hero due to the charity. When its all said and done, i do not think the fallout will be as nuclear as we all once thought. Star will make it through this and come out unscathed and she will be all the better for it I am sure.

That’s understandable, but you know like when you’re watching lord of the rings and you’re at that point where Frodo and Sam are ready to give up and there’s horribleness all around them? I feel super sad there, but the payoff is worth it. If a story doesn’t made you feel mad, sad and in the end glad then it wasn’t doing it’s job. 💕
Well it also sounds like a lot of folks are overreacting an awful lot for a fictional character. What you pulled off is what a lot if writers want and hope to pull off. The tell a story that draws out so much suspense and emotions out of their readers. Some people are going a little too overboard I think, so don’t let them get to you. Your creative process and the end result are perfect, well done.
If it makes you feel better, it _did_ lessen the tension a little for me because it allows for her to have a way out, but I think it heightened the tension among certain groups who could imagine themselves in the position Star is in. It's more of a "OMG If that were me I would just lay down and die. D: D: D:" thing for a lot of people.
If that's a photo on the flyer - kind of hard to tell in comics - we can add use of someone's image without their permission to Marellis' growing list of crimes...

Okay guys i know this looks bad but to how everyone is acting including her friend on base they just teasing because of the charity flyer. They dont actually know that she is one and has to use a diaper. And i know it looks bad but star just need to figure this out and just play along with the teasing for now.

Don't get me wrong, I fully plan on still reading whatever amount of pages are left in this emotional rollercoaster ride, but... This honestly is making my anxiety go through the roof. Still, I'm going to keep hoping that this ride has a happy ending, and that Star gets her revenge on Marellis. Maybe I'm getting too emotionally attached to Star and whatnot, but... I honestly feel bad for her being humiliated like this. And given that, if I remember correctly, at least SOME of this story has been based off of your actual experiences in real life... I'm sincerely hoping you didn't have to suffer something similar. When your commissions open up again and I have some money to spare for one... Question: the flyer appears to be showing her with her normally dyed hair (since it's based on how she appeared before he started coercing her). Is this Marellis telling her that he'll let her re-dye her hair (in his mind, throwing her a bone)? Or is this something he didn't think through all the way?
I ask because the current story from the point of view of everyone at the base is "Star normally has her hair dyed, but she decided she wanted a change, except she's also volunteering to be the 'base baby' for charity and will be re-dyeing her hair for the part". truthfully if i had read this starting out in my days of exploring myself, this would have helped me a tonne to not be so niave and assume that everyone was safe. It might have helped me question my first daddy persons motives and probably even helped prevent my sexual assault. Its not a nice side of ABDL but there are definetly predators out there and pretending the whole community is safe is dangerous.
I'm not suggesting we should dress the community up, it has bad actors. But this has become the cautionary tale of how a girl dared to make two new friends and go to a weekend party to explore a new side of herself. Instead she runs into her boss who leverages her new interest to systematically ruin her professional life. As presently written, the story suggests if you dare to explore yourself and seek happiness your life will be ruined and you were wrong to think you could be happy. Even her attempt to get help only results in her situation getting drastically worse. This is, for now, a story that tells someone who's still in the closet as ABDL "Reach out to the community at your own peril, the stakes are exactly as high as your worst nightmares have lead you to believe."
All of that said, that's where the story is right now. I know this isn't the ending, I know that's not the message you're sending by the end of all this. But stuck in the middle of the story without all the pieces as we are right now, I just couldn't recommend this to someone who's confused and scared about the stuff they're interested in. It would only drive them further into the closet. I'm not saying you've made a bad story, or a hateful one. I'm acknowledging the place we're at right now is rough, and that it's not a gentle introduction to the community like it used to be. But that's temporary. It's hard right now because of where the story ends here in this moment. Your story is powerful, well written, and deep. I think that's exactly what you always meant it to be, and while I miss being able to send this to people who were confused or scared about themselves I don't think the story is worse for that. I also think, when the dust settles, it will be again.
It's a bit contradictory to ask you to take this to heart, but I think you should worry less about what I or other people think about individual strips or story arcs and continue to focus on making this story the way you feel is right. I didn't express that I missed sharing this with people in a different context to discourage you, and I really should have phrased myself better. As your story grows and changes to express your raw experiences you're going to see a lot of raw comments full of emotion. Those are victories. The story you're telling right now comes from a place of pain, the fact that people in your replies are whipped up means you're doing a good job communicating that pain and making people feel something. Yeah I think its fair to say that this whole arc isnt a good one, there will be happier ones honest and truthfully a large part of this one starts getting resolved on new year day so hopefully it'll start instilling a bit more positivity rather than all this stress. Also, thanks for letting everyone know that the new year page will likely be the end of your character's terrible situation... This drives me optimistic to a point where I can theorize how it would end... But for now, I wouldn't be surprised if Star will get along what Marellis had planned to do to her until the point where he'll be taken down, thus freeing her from this devious Sgt.

The photo is looking down on her, so somebody took it (it wasn't on a timer).
It's entirely possible a newbie could have misunderstood the rules. The existence of the photo proves that an experienced member misled her; even if it's just failing to correct that mistake.

So if that's a picture from the party, that's basically concrete evidence that he was recording there. That outfit is back with Manda, so anybody who was at the party will know he was recording there. Even if he claims it was consensual recording, the rule was still no cameras iirc.

I think Star sees Marellis perhaps as a father figure she can fight against. Like she wouldnt dare step out of line against her own father (altho thats corroding over time) So its not a positive father figure more a "I need somewhere to vent my negative daddy issues and Marellis being teh next male authority figure in my life looks like a good place"

Yep... knew this wasn't going to be explained away with a dream sequence. The lousy bastard found a way to mess with Star without completely exposing the situation. Just feel like some folks would find this a bit odd that Star would go along with something this embarrassing for a guy she hates without there being more to it. Maybe I'm overthinking it xD

While yes, this is far too cohesive and detailed to be an dream IRL, not everyone goes down the youtube clickhole and amasses a strange amalgam of nich knowledge of dreams and how they work. I think this can still be a nightmare. Comics don't have to mimic real life. This is a comic about animal people for heaven's sake.

I know they have a very laid back sort of relationship but they would know when it's time to get serious. They would just be able to tell from each other's expressions and attitude.
Also would Star really take it so lightly? I would like to think she would be a little more sensitive and intelligent to know when she needs to approach something more delicately.

I mean, I think it's intended that he can't tell. He's focusing on teasing her, and she's keeping her cool and so hes interpreting it as, "welp, she's a touch nut gotta tease her harder for this silly stunt", and not "oho this silly stunt is actually her darkest secret shame."

Hmm. I feel like both Marellis and Star are both hoping this is a dream. Star for obvious reasons, Marellis because Star pretty much has irrefutable evidence and a solid case that she was blackmailed and, at the absolute least, being harassed by a supervisor at this point
That’s terrible buts I think it’s better than being outed. I was like shit then I saw the paper and was relieved that it wasn’t as bad as I thought. I’ve been in a similar position and I was almost outed due to me being a dumbass. But this is better because wits for charity and people won’t think twice about it cuz it’s just for charity

Oh this is great! I had hoped it wasn't a dream, but I couldn't quite see where the story was going...genius!
It seems like a lot of comments are seeing this as Star being truly outed (which may be how STar sees it herself this moment!). However the way I see it there's a slim way that Star can escape with her secret (if not most of her dignity) if everyone continues to believe it's 'just a charity stunt'.

Yeah, like BabyStar mentionned, the new year page(s) will completely undo ALL of this tempest. Also yeah, Martin is the one who Star opened up to let him know about the blackmailing. From the clues that I was able to obtain, I am going for the likely conclusion that she'll play along as the "base baby", but then, once the event is over, Star will have to explain why she's late to meet with Manda (she texted 3PM for the time, but the flyer stated from noon to 7PM)

Pre-covid they'd hold events called "munches" which is when everybody meets at a restaurant/bar/cafe in normal street clothes to hang out. That allows you to show them (and then to show you) that everybody is capable of being at least a semi-functioning adult in a neutral public setting. Make some friends there and that's a good way to get invited to stuff. It's likely not going to be a giant abdl picnic, but you might find a handful of people into abdl willing to have a playdate or something.
2) local furry chats. Generally they use telegram. There are some massive general babyfur chats (like 1000+ members), where you could ask for more specific local chats. From there just hang out and get to know people. I met my (now ex) boyfriend by trading diapers in a parking lot after we'd met in a local chat.
3) conventions. There's abdl conventions, such as capcon and west coast jungle gym, and then there are furry conventions. The furry conventions aren't explicitly abdl, but there's often a few hundred babyfurs in attendance at the big cons and they often have room parties. Don't expect those to be like the comic though, generally it just ends up being a handful of people in a hotel room wearing diapers and calling each other smol. (That said, attending a few of those and just being in an environment where exposed diapers were totally fine and encouraged really helped my self acceptance).

To me this almost feels worse then him being angry. At least then he knows it's a serious deal and you could make it up. Here he utterly refuses to see the point and so you can't really have anything. I hope next page Star punches him in the face to make it clear to him that this is not something he should be laughing about.

Thats fine, but we are talking about Star here. Rooting for her to attack the guy is rooting for her to get locked up. She is happy with the military, she seems to have pride for it. She will be fine. She will get babied up for a day for charity, there will be others as well and she is strong enough to not let it effect her. Everything will work out and no misplaced violence will be needed.

Id make sure he soends a very, very long time in the brig and I got well compensated by him for it. This is absolutely *not* ok!! This is literally my worst fear. Well, I suppose that provides an alternative to the 'it's all a dream' possibility, and while it may seem like a nightmare it also seems like there's a fairly easy way to get out of this, simply tell people 'No, I didn't in fact volunteer, Marellis is clearly trying to humiliate me in front of the entire base and I'm not going to play along. If he wants someone to dress up like a baby for a day he can do it himself, unless of course he's not willing to support the plan he himself came up with, which would just show that the entire reason for this was to stick it to me.'

It might be because i'm a relative newcomer to the comic, but i kinda still think this might turn out well for her? I mean, this is... it's kind of a setup to where she could ACTUALLY go Little and enjoy herself without anyone thinking anything weird of it? Like the... you know, the whole 'monsters running around freely on Halloween' thing? Since there's an explanation for it, she can be free about it, even if it's just for the day? And maybe get a feel for how accepting the other folks are? I dunno, like i said i only got here a while ago x.x

I get your point, and I agree that she'll be likely to play along... Enjoying it? Since the writting aims for some... relatable-type event, I have my share of doubt and agreement (insert confused stonks meme man)... After all, if she enjoys too much of it, she could spill out her ABDL side (in which case, she'll have to almost be on her guard, which kinda defies the purpose of it)... However, if everyone is thinking "she's acting", she could end up enjoying it for real... Maybe to a purring point (which is where some could think "Base Baby sus")
