Awright, here he is at last. Maneki Cthulhu mk 1, beckoning you in to your DOOM!
So, this is a 30cm tall stuffed toy of the dread Elder God himself, and is what you'll get if you purchase and assemble one of the sewing kits I'm making of this guy.
He needs a "stone" tablet to go in place of the coin the lucky cat usually holds, I think with "Cthulhu Fhtagn!" on it in katakana, if I can figure out how to spell it. I'm also thinking a black, rather than a red, collar/ribbon, with a... bell-shaped bell on it (as opposed to a round bell). Unless there's some other little icon more appropriate to him.
The dark green fur in these photos is pretty accurate to the true colour, but the pale green material is not close to white, it's a spring green, with little sparkly bits woven into it. The wings are not true brown, either, they're a disgusting shade of dark olive green. But I'm going to change the wing material, because it's very floppy, and anyone who tries to sew it by hand will be sending me death threats before they're half way through one wing. I want darker and nastier colours for his body as well, but am not sure if I'll be able to get them. There's always the option of a black version.
Let me know if you think you might be interested in one - I still have to do the instruction manual and maybe get some different fabrics, so they're not ready to roll off the production line right this second. But by the time I've added the stone tablet and bell collar, not to mention the arm joints, you'll be looking at AU$40, plus whatever the postage is (at least $11 internationally).
And no, I'm not going to put one together for you unless you pay me $150. Ask your grandma. Or wait until I put together some videos about toy-making.

Usually with scaly parts, I'll just use a fur with a short pile.

Alternately, there are plenty of kinds of slightly fuzzy non-fur materials I can use, that feel nice and have a bit of a sheen.

I don't understand what it is about those curvy tails. I thought spiraling/bunching only happened with the sewing machine, but I had it happen to me with the siamese cat's tail as well. If the two pieces are aligned and laid flat against each other, they should stay that way, even when fastened together. And yet sometimes they don't. It is very annoying.
Theoretically, if you can get the dorsal (back) surface attached all the way along its length, and then come back to do the underside, it should stay straight.
If you keep having trouble with it, I'll cut out one for myself and see if I can figure out the secret.
