Last night, I went on a full moon snowshoeing hike on a section of the Tahoe Rim Trail. This picture was taken in a clearing just over a half mile from the highway at an elevation of about 9150 feet. The city that you see is Reno, NV, and the mountain in the distance is Slide Mountain, on which the Mt. Rose ski resort is located. The image is a 30 second exposure with the only light sources being the full moon and the city lights of Reno.

Beautiful night photo. What type of camera did you use? If you ever visit my hot springs, be sure to bring your camera - this area has the darkest night skies in the lower 48 states according to a national astronomy group. Have you ever been able to take a photograph by starlight?
