Guess who's a Decemberists fan? Meeeee! But also it's a totally cool japanese folk tale. Greedy man sellin' out his beautiful bird wife! ...Except I imagine she transforms from a crane to a woman. Otherwise that would be totally gross.

How big is this in real life? It looks really, really good. :D I forget what the technical term for this kind of papercraft is (toile?) but I remember being really, really impressed with what people could come up with for it.
It's a bit after the fact, but I can't help but think it would have been a cool effect if the footprints in the snow were actually cut out of the paper-- for a more 3-D effect. :B

I have no idea what the real term for this craft is, I just call it paper cutting.

There was a really huge book in my old school library on it, haha. SO BADASS. ;_;

What did you think of "The Hazards of Love"? Haha if you're interested in the whole 'this entire album!! tells a story!!' thing, you should check out the Antlers' "Hospice" PS FAIR WARNING it has made many of my friends cry, wtf. It's a sad, sad album.

agj;kjgdaga oh wow that cutout is COMPLETELY ACE. hahaha +__________+ (my favorite part are the squiggly ghosts, what). I have a friend who really loves the Decemberists too haha she's been to like twenty million of their concerts or sth.
