The type of labyrinth is called a Cretian labyrinth and while hugely widespread it was very popular on Crete and was often used to symbolize the Minotaurs Labyrinth. which was part of an older Bull worshiping religion.

My friend  Kyriellus is an expert on Labyrinth working and the history (or more of one than i will ever be!) and has inspired me to use a lot of them of late. they are fascinating things
