Scuply for now but i will get to antiquing her with various paint techniques. she is baked and done
Some of the symbolism is that she is a Prey Animal. Fertility in one's food supply is a GOOD THING. and something one would use magic or prayer to insure (along with good hunting and other practices which during the stone age for hunter gatherers went hand in hand)
Full breasts and Pregnant belly are easy symbols of fertility oft employed by early man for such purposes. such as the Venus of Willendorf. who's head was possibly symbolic of grains. In this case i was wondering what if Early Cave Cats were the "man" of this stone age. grain would not be their eat of choice. so i went with a gazelle like creature.
around her neck are symbols of grains of the fields. the food of choice of the prey animal. if the grasses grow then the prey animals survive and breed and come back if migratory. this is an important symbiosis that the people would have understood and in making such an idol or magical object would not be overlooked.
The Labyrinth on her stomach is symbolic of several things.
The womb and birth
Death and rebirth
the great feminine mysteries which were linked to such symbolism in real life as well as to the underworld such as caves which the people sought shelter.
From her genital region we see both fluid lines symbolizing the flow of life and more feminine "mysteries" of periods and such.
Also there are sprouting plants. both indicating new life.
