That was the intention of this commission, a beautifully slow transformation that would show many aspects of the transformation from the human body to the body of a big cat.

RFID chips are now the standard to identify animals, once placed in the skin, each animal can be identified and you know who you have in front of you. In the past, numbers were therefore tattooed on certain parts of the body, but an RFID chip is easier to read.
People do not need one, as they are on the road with active traking systems, most anyway, their smartphone.
